Yesterday i noted a Double 185 110/130 on the edinbrough run but it ran through the Manchester bound platform and the Dispatcher at Crescent was livid he hadnt been told about it he was running down the platform shouting get back theres a train coming.was quite amusing but this was due to the flooding in Atherton area and Lostock
Due to flooding in the Scottish Borders , Transpennine services to Glasgow and Edinburgh will not operate north of Carlisle , passengers to be taken forward on Virgin Trains services .
Bet that gave TPE some rare flexibility.
The problem for Transpennine , Virgin and Scotrail was the river that crosses under the WCML just north of Carlisle Station had burst its banks to such an extent that the river was flowing over the rail not under it and that when the water had subsided one of the overhead pylon supports was hanging at 45 degrees away from the railway and that had to be made safe before operations would be allowed to start.
Transpennine Express traincrew presumably don't sign the diversionary route via Dumfries then, or was the location of the problem affecting this route too?

Transpennine drivers only sign to preston on the Edinburgh / Glasgow service , they contracted the driving out north of Preston , i think to DRS.

Yeah the location of the blockage precluded using the dumfries line as it just north of carlisle station next to the car parks.
Just a reminder that all TPE services from Liverpool to the North East will be diverted to run via Newton-le-Willows so will not serve Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Oxford Road, Warrington Central, Birchwood or Liverpool South Parkway from 27 October 2012, until the work connected with re-development work at Stalybridge is complete, around the beginning of November.
Are they replacing the switch and crossings on both sides of Stalybridge Station

Re-signalling, 10mph line speed increase, junctions either end re-modelled, 2 extra platforms, station refurbishment, provision for electrification.... lots!

New bays supposed to be able to hold 4-car Class 319.

Signalling is swalloed up into the new super IECC, Manchester East.
