Yeah iv heard this rumour before when it was operating at Runcorn
After doing some googling came across this article from 2007 which involved 7617
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/6441219.stm
It all adds up in a way as someone on flickr claims that a mother and child haunt it and considering the fatal accident it had this could well be true...
Interesting! What makes people say its haunted? Has it had any peculiar strange incidents?
It was 2007 a 70 year old and her 50 year old daughter were hit by it and ultimately killed. I remember when at Runcorn many drivers didn't want it as they felt spooked..
7639 is parked up withdrawn at Canning Road and, very surprisingly, 7652 transferred to Speke today.
The last Marshalls in service are now in Southport, 7636, 7643(loan for 2725), 7653,7654 and 7656 with 7637 at Speke on a very short term loan from the pool. One is earmarked for preservation.
