One of the longest routes within Merseyside has to be the 137/138 taking around 1 hour and 40 minutes in either direction. Also the 139 when doing full route to St Helens clocks in a 1 hour 32 minutes one way and 1 hour 35 minutes the other.

I know it's a bit pedantic but wouldn't the 89A technically be longer than the 89 seen as it does that extra stint to LJLA? :P

48/48A Liverpool-Southport is longer at 21 miles

Wasn't there a short lived JL Airport-Southport 48A? I imagine that had a good few miles on it.

Yes there was, and then there was the 217 Halewood-Liverpool City Centre that was also a very long journey.

What about when the 418/419 went to/from Cheshire Oaks?

Possibly cheating, but could you include the National Express 060 to Leeds via Manchester given it is possible to pay on boarding, thus making it a stage carriage service?

Is it a registered bus service with VOSA?
Even so, it is 30-35 miles long, which is probably still shorter than the 811/817 routes.

It most certainly is registered - and its more like 77 miles long (even longer in the evening when some journeys run via Manchester Airport and Bradford)!
