I've only seen MAN's on the 183 as well, on the few occasions I have seen it. I thought 33174 was supposed to have been transferred especially for that route, but it seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth as I haven't seen it since it left Stockport. Does anyone know what it is doing these days? Not that I'm particularly missing it though LOL

That's why I ask Smile
I saw 33174 going up Oldham Rd towards Oldham on Monday afternoon, presumably to do driver changeover, so it's still knocking about, but mainly as a taxi bus.

Same being said about the 2 Tridents at AZ, they only ever seem to be on staff taxi duties, mainly going too and from Glossop for driver changeovers on the 390, I did see a glimpse of one in service during half term, coming down penny meadow with a handful of passengers on board but the driver had already changed the board to 'not in service'.

Talking of the 390, when does this service actually run? According to the timetable on the website it doesn't run on Saturdays. It clearly states it doesn't run Sunday or Bank Holidays which is understandable, but says nothing at all about Saturdays.

It runs Monday to Saturday, not sure why the Saturday timetable isn;t listed but it certainly does run Saturday, and of course the regular Solo is back up in Glossop on a Sunday being used on the 202.

The regular Solo being 47559 presumably, though I have seen 47622 on the 202 recently on Sundays.
390 is broadly same as the School Holiday timetable, just starting 60/90 minutes later (depending on direction)

Correct 47559 is up there every day (when not broken). You will see both Solo's up there on a Sunday as the 202 is a two bus working until early evening.

As a purist I am disappointed that S/C wil be acquiring Wright B7RLE & B9 from First, a pity they could not be moved out of Wigan before sale.

I noticed some being sold to Ensignbus, so the fact that they are leased would explain this. I would also have liked First to reshuffle their fleet and retain modern Volvo B7RLEs and B9TLs. Stagecoach will still have buses on order and spare buses once the E400Hs arrive for route 192. Maybe Stagecoach can arrange just to lease these vehicles from First for a few months?

If nothing else it certainly puts the pressure on JPT.
Interesting that rumours about stagecoach buying Bluebird were around a couple of years ago but nothing came of it, but it's a well known fact Bluebird have been struggling of late, so wonder if Stagecoach got the business for a song or is 2m a decent price?

I had heard about Bluebird being linked to Stagecoach before. If anything, I think JPT could sell out to Arriva as they have a few operations in central Manchester, albeit from the west side, and Stagecoach and First would be unlikely due to monopoly considerations.

I like Bluebird's fleet including MCVs and Solo SRs, so hope these can be retained for a while at least.
I think the Bluebird takeover has been bandied around in the past but nothing really came of it. I think the surprising thing about the Bluebird/Stagecoach takeover was the timing, just 7 days after the First Wigan depot purchase. But then again, there wasn't a big gap from taking over the bus operations Mayne and Bullocks a few years ago.

Stagecoach will probably do the same with Bluebird and First Wigan depot that they did with Mayne and Bullocks and keep the majority of the fleet in place for the first few months while possibly bringing in some of their own fleet to help modernise things. Possibly vehicles like the Solos and Enviro200s. The Solo SRs will definitely stay and the MCV will probably do so too. Some of the older Darts will probably get moved out eventually, as they're showing a bit of wear and tear and might not help Stagecoach's image.
