*80 - Service curtailed to run between White Moss and Manchester only. Sunday service withdrawn.
*217/218 - Monday-Saturday service proposed to be withdrawn and replaced by new tendered services due to hight costs. Replacement services between Manchester and Ashton (SS Travel service 217) and between Stalybridge and Drolysden (First service 408).
*Wigan Nightbus - All remaining journeys on Wigan nightbus network proposed to be withdrawn from 28 July 2014.

I notice that First are extending the 42 to NMGH. I am surprised that Stagecoach have not extended the 6/112 to Didsbury/Withington/Chorlton already. Maybe they will now consdier cross town services in competition with First?

Sorry typo meant 80/112

As I said before, vehicles can and will appear in service from reserve.

Ah senior management not knowing what actually goes on at the workface?

Where've I seen that before?LOL

I am not surprised about bus 80, since then route got diverted I have seen 5 people max from the White Moss to Middleton section. I personally think the route might have been a better routed through the Alkrington estate providing them with a Manchester route and better access to Middleton.

Its a shame to hear about Wigan's Nightbus routes, with First being the king to axing services I would have thought that first would have had away with them ages ago, unless they have only recently performed poorly.

Its a shame to hear about the 217/218, Weren't these services previously operated by Mayne's?

when stm took over maynes stm withdrew 230-235 (and daytime 220/1/2 if i remember correctly )and replaced them with 217/8 + 231
I have noticed an increase in ordinary Enviro400s on route 197, at the expense of E400Hs. I think since route 50 was Hybridised a few of the route 197 batch can be needed there instead. Indeed, I rode a 197 E400H on route 50 on 21.2.14.

Route 171 has recently started seeing ex-Bluebird stock such as MCVs. I wonder whether it has therefore been reallocated to Middleton?

I noticed 17239 as a Magic Bus yesterday, the first ex-London short Trident as far as I am aware.

A genuine surprise today was Enviro400 19222 on route X5! This is the first double-decker I have ever seen on this route.

They were operated by Mayne's with Speedwell doing evening journeys between Manchester and Droylsden.

Stagecoach very quickly dropped the 232/3/4/5 Manchester Mossley services and extended the 231 from Littlemoss to Ashton via Hartshead and Tameside Hospital but met with opposition from Mossley residents claiming they were loosing a vital bus link into Manchester so the 217/218 were extended to Mossley [previously Mayne's had only operated to Ashton with some journeys continuing to Tameside Hospital].

Its a shame the 217/218 are once again being changed but to be honest its a bit of a long winded service at the moment, although it always worries me when a tender is taken away from a large company and given to an unknown company.

Its a big service for Stagecoach to loose and I think it will defiantly be the end for the MAN's at AZ with possibly two being retained for the 183, although recently the 217/218 has been worked mainly by Enviro200's so could a few of these ending up at ST.
I seem to recall that Stagecoach axed many of Mayne's routes deeper into Tameside 232,233 and 234 around the Mossley area. I thought the 217/218 were former Mayne routes, I didn't realised that Stagecoach started the routes after axing most of Mayne's network.

As far as im aware the 171 is now run by Middleton depot following a change around a few months ago, I think a couple of Middleton services went to other depots at the same time.

I think 17239 is the only ex London Trident to be put into the Magic livery, the rest remaining in corporate livery. Its been like that for a while now.

Speaking of Hybrids and non Hybrids, I counted no less than 4 standard Enviro400's on the 219 yesterday all in the space of about 45 minutes.

i think 217 operated near enough it curr route mcr - ashton

i think it used to be
230 mcr - tesco droylsden every 30 mins( then ext to ashton via curr 168/9 route) at odd times
231 mcr - littlesmoss peak hours i think
232/3 mcr - ash - moss - staly - duki - mcr every half hour combined one via brushes est the other via carrbrook
234/5 mcr - duki - staly - moss - ash - mcr every half hour combined one via brushes est the other via carrbrook
233/235 operated hourly on sundays bet tameside h - town (todays 231 route)

then 232-5 ashton mossley stalybridge section and 220/222 stalybridge - mcr routes was replaced with 217/8
leaving
231 extended from littlemoss to ashton via tameside h
217/8 extended
221 left to peak hour journeys

hope this helps
