Interesting article in todays Echo, Merseytravel would have London style bus powers to set routes & fares in Weeks.
What's is all this about never been London so how does it work
Nothing on the echo mobile site
Not seen the article and I can't find it on the Echo website, but is this basically the start of bus regulation on Merseyside?

Basically yes. It seems an odd thing to introduce outside the capital though. Just had a look, can't find it either.

is this something that MIGHT happen or WILL happen?
Its something that Labour aspires to introduce , but there may be a legal challenge from First , Stagecoach and Arriva .

I wouldn't be surprised at a legal challenge if it was pushed through as surely it would mean reduced profit for them? And that would be in addition to the removal of their current 'freedom' to operate.
