That is because the network planners for Oldham thinks everyone has a car and drives so there not enough demand to route buses here there everywhere like Tameside but there has always been an idea I have had for a route we so badly need in Oldham is a route to bury
Oldham - Royal Oldham Hospital - Royton - Kirkholt or Queensway - Roch Valley - Fairfield General Hospital - Bury. This route would give a much-needed connection to Fairfield Hospital from Oldham Hospital and give the Oldham resident a connection for visiting without the need to go into Manchester or Rochdale for connection theses destinations. they have always routed a bury connect via Middleton which never works because you have already got connections to bury there but folks who live in Royton are stuck because a lack of variety of connections and Middleton and Rochdale are there only options for a bury connection and Rochdale is more important for a Fairfield Hospital connection.
Another route which is much needed in Oldham is a route to the Trafford Centre once again but not routing by the Motorway instead routing the route via Salford Royal and Eccles to allow for work access in this part of manchester
Oldham - Chadderton - Mills Hill - Middleton - Heaton Park - Leicester Road - Salford - Salford Royal - Eccles - Trafford Park - Trafford Centre
This would open up so many new connections and work opportunity for Oldham and Middleton I do understand this route is long but surely if they used to run a route from Manchester to Huddersfield they surely could run a service like this
But there is the view that First has made that it better to break up long routes. like the 83 / 184 to not travel in to Manchester as then in event of issues rest of route is likey to keep to time.

I get the impression TfGM are more bothered about areas without Metrolink, like Leigh, getting a good bus service than areas with Metrolink.

I remember 2 decades ago getting a bus to the Trafford centre from Oldham, First was still red and we got to town on a Metrobus that’s how long ago it was.
Funny thing is from the Lever Street stop there are 3 services to Ashton alone at a shared frequency of less than every 10 mins at peak times, while there is a single 76/A every 20 mins at the exact same time again to the largest town in Greater Manchester. It’s like they don’t think that some of us commute and not everyone lives near a metrolink station.

It's not really a fair comparison though, I don't think a lot of people use the 76 as a way to get to Oldham as it takes nearly an hour compared to 40 minutes on an 84 and 37 on an 83.
Also the 3 services to Ashton, only the 216 is direct. The 230 takes a rather circuitous route around Littlemoss and the 231 is even less direct, going all the way to Hartshead and taking a full hour end to end.
With Oldham there are many communities that don't leave their communities so would never use a bus to Manchester many don`t even travel into Oldham. each town has there own Ecosystem.
It all about do they get used if you ran them. And maybe a shock but Manchester is not the place most people travel they tend to go in and out of Manchester. We need more routes to areas of work not into town centres.
Regarding routes in post 8 that have not been included in the consultation document, I wonder whether these would remain commercial operations, subject to the operators remaining willing to run them?
And what happens to routes like 125 as from the border to Bolton it the main route with no other servces. As in London they would be run by TFL if they was a core route.
Some ideas/thoughts about the Manchester Routes section
Manchester to Brookhouse/Cadishead
Manchester City Centre - Trafford Centre - Cadishead (will the 100 still run to Warrington?)
Routes via Northenden & Wythenshawe
Manchester City Centre - Northenden - Timperley (extend it to Broomwood and use the turning circle?)
Manchester City Centre - Wythenshawe - Wythenshawe Hospital (is this the 101 (that gets cut) or the 109 route?)
Manchester City Centre - Walkden - Logistics North (extend to Bolton?)
Routes to Chorlton
Manchester City Centre - Chorlton - Sale (bring back the Altrincham extension for the last outbound services if the Metrolink still not running that late?)
Altrincham Routes
East Didsbury - Northenden - Altrincham - Manchester Airport (Instead of having the East Didsbury route continue to the Airport, maybe reroute the 88 to the Airport for better linkage?)
Manchester Airport - Wythenshawe – Altrincham (which way will it be going between the Airport and Wythenshawe?)

Whilst there is focus more on bus reach for areas with no / minimal tram/rail links; there needs to be sufficient redundancy in place to support passengers when the network is not working.
My thinking is that with rail/tram season tickets, either have bus tickets included or at a significant reduction in price (similar to the Bus Card Extra) so that it both assists in the overcrowding issue these networks sometimes face and persuade people who typically commute just for work to take the bus elsewhere for leisure purposes?

As someone has mentioned the list is just essentially the list of services that operated or were recently withdrawn a few years ago.
The Manc - wythenshawe - hospital route is actually the short lived 102? extension to the hospital.
