Abellio have won the West Midlands franchise and will replace the 350s running Liverpool to Birmingham services, as well as obtaining other new EMUs and DMUs. No mention of manufacturers yet.
There seems to be some confusion over whether the trains for Liverpool to Birmingham will be brand new or new to the route but if they are new to the route it raises the question of what's available to cascade that is longer than a 350?
Noted on another forum that there is speculation that Birmingham to Liverpool may get the 707s from South West Trains.

The first two 707s delivered were fitted with pantographs for ac testing. These will be removed when the tests are complete.
It is reported on Yahoo that 319012 and 319220 which are currently at LNWR Crewe have gone on short term hire to London and Northwestern Railway. They will replace Class 350/1 whilst they are away for refurbishment.
