It seems that Arriva are just allowing a handful of subsidiaries to gain new vehicles pending partial stock market flotation. I'd have loved some Liverpool examples in service in time for my late September visit but realise I may need to ride one in Leicester first.

Although I knew about the StreetDecks for London route 340 at GR, this is a surprise exception from the Enviro400-MMCs for the other double-deck orders.

It may be worth mentioning the 5 Enviro 200-MMCs EN34-38 that entered service at London Enfield garage for route 377 around the end of June. These might technically have been last year's orders.

It seems that only three of the five are reqd for the 377, the others can often be found on the 379 or 318.
The government figure of 72 buses allows for the planned 51 hybrid deckers to be shared between Speke and Green Lane. This means Speke will be receiving a fair few more than 20 Enviro400 hybrids assuming the plan to use them on the 79 holds. With AIUI a combined 14 and 18 PVR of 24, I would expect 26 for Green Lane and 25 for Speke which should allow for two spares at each depot.

Another question is, with 27 Commanders remaining at Speke, will a further two deckers be sourced from elsewhere to allow this depot to go fully double deck?
Im guessing those commanders are going to wipe out the X and Y plate veichles?

Indeed, 1 if not both spares can be used on other routes. I did see a pic of one on Flickr with 379 blinds so was relieved that I was able to ride one on route 377 last Saturday!

There is a remarkable amount happening at Green Lane & Speke for all these Hybrids coming in addition to the Enviro 400-MMCs in due course.

It's just the hybrid Enviro400s for Green Lane and Speke. There aren't any diesel Enviro400s on order for the North West this year

Thank you for clarifying this. I must have got the wrong end of the stick due to the Enviro400s already on order for Green Lane & Speke. I am encouraged by your confirmation that the Liverpool double-deckers will differ from those recently delivered for Leicester, as this represents greater variety and has made my travel plans easier to map out!

No problem. I must admit I'm looking forward to them arriving as well
According to Volvo, they are supplying 51 Volvo Hybrid/Wright Geminis to Arriva Merseyside ... so looks like they are not going to be MMCs
