What would you do to change the Wirral Bus Network?

In the wirral I would do a number of things to change the network. Also a question what would you do to change the network.
I HAVE LISTENED TO FEEDBACK AND THIS IS AN EDITED IDEA!!
I would change these services below:
1/1B Moreton Circulars: Withdrawn replaced by M1 & M2.
1A/1C Moreton circular: Withdrawn.
1/X1 Liverpool - Chester: I would make the frequency back to a combined 15 minute service. I would also change the X1 to return via Rock Ferry By-Pass not serving Birkenhead or New Ferry. I'd also change the terminus is Chester because its really confusing. 1: Will run from Chester Interchange only not Chester Station. X1 will run from Chester Interchange as normal but still serving the Station.
16/16A/17 Moreton - Eastham Ferry: I would make all 16 services via Peter Price Lane with 16A renumbered 16. I'd also have all services serve Poulton Lancelyn & Croft Retail Park.
22 West Kirby - Chester: Services serve Willaston every 2 hours remaining as 22. Services serve Mollington every 2 hours as 23. So basically its Willaston, no Mollington (Vise-versa)
38/38A/38B: I would change the 38 by number one. 38 service to Eastham will be renumbered 38A and no longer serve the Sandbrook Estate. 38 services to Croft Retail Park will remain via Sandbrook. This is too try to stop consistent delays along these roads & also the number of passengers in this area is quiet low. Sunday & evenings 38A services will extended from Eastham to Eastham Ferry not serving Mill Park. Services will not serve Saughall Massie. However on Sunday & evenings services will serve Sandbrook Estate.
41/42 Arrowe Park - Mill Park: I'd have these services extend beyond Mill Park to Cheshire Oaks via Ellesmere Port. But also with that reduce the service to run every 40 minutes each combining to a 20 minute service. Sunday & evening journeys will run every 90 minutes each combining to a 45 minute service.
73 Heswall - Poulton Lancelyn Circular: Extended beyond Bebington no longer serving Poulton Lancelyn to Birkenhead Bus Station (Along the old 77 service).
80/81/82 West Kirby circular: Possible increase to run hourly (80 & 82) & run half-hourly (81).
91/91A Holmlands Estate circular: I'd have 91 withdrawn. 91A will be renumbered 91 & run Monday - Saturday hourly.
106/107 Wallasey Circular: I'd have services extend beyond Liscard to Birkenhead North operating to/from there instead. Also if an increase is possible it would be 60 mins but if not it would be 2 hours each.
174 Heswall circular: Combined with 181.
175 Heswall - Irby Circular: Extend the service from Irby to Thurtaston & then West Kirby. Possible reduction however.
181 Heswall - Arrowe Park: Extended from Heswall via Lower Village to Clatterbridge via Barnston & Brimstage. Possible reduction however.
216/217 Morning circulars: Withdrawn because 418 & 492/495 run along the service.
407 West Kirby - Liverpool: Sunday & evening journeys should be introduced running every 40 minutes.
408/409 Birkenhead - Wallasey: Reinstated but runs every 60 minutes each.
410 New Brighton - Woodside/Clatterbridge: Woodside journeys extended from Birkenhead to Liverpool. Clatterbridge journeys will not serve Woodside at all.
411 New Brighton - Woodside: No ideas.
413/414 Woodside - Seacombe or New Brighton: Both journeys increased to every 20 minutes each combining to a 10 minute service. Probably wont happen because Arriva is currently struggling with staff in Birkenhead depot.
418 New Ferry - Birkenhead: Additional journeys run during the early mornings replacing the 216/217 these services will run as 218 and serve Woodchurch Estate. Rerouted via Prenton Road West then Borough Road no longer serving Storeton Road or Mount Road.
420 West Kirby - Liverpool: Return service departing at 15:30.
423 Seacombe - Liverpool: Due to the 407 Sunday being introduced there is no need to serve Town Meadow. Also a possible reduction.
432/433 New Brighton - Liverpool: No ideas but due to the amount of buses needed for others services both journeys may be reduced to run 30 minutes daily combing to a 15 minute service.
437 West Kirby - Liverpool: No longer serves Greenbank Road due to massive congestion at some times and also reliability issues.(81 & 22 remain via this are). Saturday service may have to be reduced to every 12 minutes.
464 New Ferry - Liverpool: Due to more buses needed the service may be reduced to 40 minutes to use 2 buses an hour on this service.
471/472 Liverpool - Heswall: Arriva's journeys: Frequency and route not changed. Stagecoach services: Reduced to every 40 minutes (Monday - Saturday day) & 60 minutes during the evenings & Sunday. I'd introduce a new 473 service between Liverpool & Heswall via Barnston running 40 minutes (Monday - Saturday day) & 60 minutes during the evenings & Sunday.
487 Liverpool - Neston: Rerouted to serve Clatterbridge Internal Grounds.
492/495 Birkenhead - Noctorum circular: Evenings & Sunday increased to hourly each. All services rerouted to serve Arrowe Park via Upton.
M1/M2 Moreton Circulars: New journeys replacing the current 1/1A/1B/1C services. M1 will run from Leasowe Ross Avenue via Leasowe, Curlew Way, Saughall, Moreton Cross, Leasowe Railway Station & Ross Avenue. M2 will run an opposite direction service. I have no idea for the frequency of the services. But services run Monday - Sunday daytimes with no evenings.
Tell me any ideas that you would do to improve the network in Wirral.
Should I do one for Liverpool?

Hi all!

Over the years I've been working on fictional (mainly bus) timetables using a format similar to TfGM's - I've honestly found this the easiest to read - for routes I have travelled on frequently or run around the area's I frequently travel.

I've had a revamp of the website:
https://sites.google.com/view/dans-manc-transit
...with the first set of routes being operated by Arriva using a more simplified numbering structure:
https://sites.google.com/view/dans-manc-...les/arriva

I would really like to know what you think; if there was any changes you would see as better (whether it's the timings or the format I've designed it in) or ideas for future routes down the line.
There is ones works in process, and I'm always going back to the drawing board as you can probably see from my old site:

Hi All

Lately, I have been spotting some great route ideas which could make the bus network in Greater Manchester, that little bit easier to use.

The route I have identified are currently missing connections and I might create some more over time.

Oldham - Royal Oldham Hospital - Royton - Thornham - Kirkholt - Sandbrook Leisure Park - Roch Valley - Fairfield Hospital - Bury | This route would restore a bus connection to Bury from Oldham via Royton the Old 400 route and create some new connections to Fairfield Hospital and Kirkholt Estate which is currently only served by local circular services.

Rochdale - Rochdale Infirmary - Spotlands - Norden - Turn - Edenfield - Ramsbottom | This route would reinstate through bus services through Norden and reinstate the connection between Edenfield and Rochdale, whilst providing a new connection to Ramsbottom. This route would enable passengers coming into Rochdale by Metrolink to seamless connect onto a service into Ramsbottom and Norden.

Rochdale - Smallbridge - Smithy Bridge - Hollingworth Lake - Littleborough Railway Station - Blackstone Edge - Ripponden - Halifax | This service could easily be diverted to Serve the lakes provides better through services to the popular Hollingworth Lakes and provide a direct connection to Halifax without a change in Littleborough and provide greater coverage.

Fitton Hill - Honeywell Lane - Hathershaw - Oldham - Westwood - Chadderton - Broadway Green Development - Broadgate - Moston Gardeners Arms - White Moss - North Manchester General Hospital | This service would provide better connections to Work/Leisure/Appointments as well other local services and reinstating a bus service along Broadgate and connecting Broadway Green Development to the bus network.

Ashton - Estates - Fitton Hill - Limeside - Failsworth Estates - Newton Heath - Central Park Interchange this would provide essential connections to the various estates and Metrolink at the underused Central Park interchange

Theses are only my ideas

TFGM Marketing Ideas

Currently, our bus network is confusing and not fully accessible and I would like to showcase my ideas on ways to improve the marketing materials, routes, and anything relating to the operations of TFGM Bus Network to make it simple and fully accessible to all and attract more people on to the bus network and out of cars.

This first part is going to be looking at the Marketing and Branding for the routes that I would introduce if I was in charge of the transformation once the bus network fully comes under the control of TFGM.

The Brands

Local Runner | Brand Colour Orange & Black

The Local Runner network will focus on serving local communities and amenities to connect them to the wider commercial network and amenities, this brand would see the reintroduce of the Little Gem Routes and their other brand counterparts from the 1980s with most routes using Mellor Strata Minibuses to allow unlimited routing option for the tighter residential streets where the big commercial buses currently struggle to operate or miss out completely.

The whole purpose of the Local Runner Brand is to provide a least one of these following connection options | Transport Interchanges, Education, Leisure, Retail, Industrial Estates, Hospitals or Local Town or Village Centre.

Theses routes would operate a maximum frequency of every 30 minutes 7 days a week to encourage more people onto the network by offering direct, simple and frequent services to the wider community.

The brand colour scheme would appear on Timetable, Bus Stop information, Flag Poles, The Vehicles and the network maps to showcase the route purpose and brand to people who use the network for the first time.

TFGM Express | Brand Colour Gold & Black

The TFGM Express brand is a return of the most popular GM Buses Express services and using the examples from the popular express and long distanced service provided by Transdev. The routes would be a mixture of routes with Non-Stop Sections, Limited Stop offering.

Theses routes would operate a maximum frequency of Every 20 Minutes of Daytime and Every 30 Minutes of evenings 7 Days a week to encourage more people onto the network by offering direct, simple and frequent services to the wider community.

The vehicle would be high specifications with a classy Gold and Black livery to promote the luxury nature of theses routes

The brand colour scheme would appear on Timetable, Bus Stop information, Flag Poles, The Vehicles and the network maps to showcase the route purpose and brand to people who use the network for the first time.

Hospital to Hospital Network | Brand Colour Blue & Black

The Hospital to Hospital Network is a new concept that would see routes connecting 2 hospital tigether to provide a seamless transition from one hospital to another hospital. This concept is much needed in Greater Manchester due to the wide spread of Hospital Services.

The long term plan of the network is to provide a 24/7 service on all routes for visitors, patients and staff to access the hospitals all day and all night without the need to change to another service.

The brand colour scheme would appear on Timetable, Bus Stop information, Flag Poles, The Vehicles and the network maps to showcase the route purpose and brand to people who use the network for the first time.

Commercial Network | Brand Red & Black

The Commercial Network would be simplified with one brand colour and simpler routes due to the other brands being introduced to the network to help separate the service offerings.

The Commercial Network would focus on Main Road routes and direct routes from point A to B without going all around the houses to cover for local routes that have been withdrawn. Also, the commercial network would work alongside the TFGM express brand to provide a stopping service along a common section of the TFGM Express route.

The vehicles would carry a Red & Black branding which is a nod to Manchester City Transport days and black being the present-day colour option for TFGM. The interior would be a semi-high specification

The brand colour scheme would appear on Timetable, Bus Stop information, Flag Poles, The Vehicles and the network maps to showcase the route purpose and brand to people who use the network for the first time.

The Bus Stop Flags

Currently, the use of Bus Stop is underused especially on busy bus corridors with multiple services operating along one road.

My proposal for the flags are simple, I would introduce coloured tiles to break up the services and make it clear with the brand of service would stop at that stop.

For example, you would have stop with 5 services 3 Commercial Network routes, 1 Local Runner and 1 TFGM Express. You would have 3 Red Tiles, 1 Orange Tile and 1 Gold tile with a service number on the tile.

The Network Map
The same principle as the bus stop flags, I would use the colours of the brands on the network map to showcase the classifications and branding on the routes to make selecting a route much easier than before.

For example, if you wanted to get the Manchester to Uppermill Express you would look for 184 which have a Gold Background on the map and a Gold Tile on the bus stops it stops at.

End Words
My Network branding and marketing ideas are only in the early stages of development as I don’t know the best avenue to showcase my ideas and get my ideas out there before TFGM Ruins the network even further as I have got a lot of experience and knowledge about how to best plan a functional and simple network and how to make it fully accessible to all.

I have recently found the new GMCA better buses consultation very confusing and very hard to get across ideas on future bus routes and it some times hard to find bus routes that will serve the needs of the public than for-profit where the current model is for profit not for connective.

So I have been recently looking through the SELNEC Route list and I thought it would be a good idea to revisit each of the routes as they ran with SELNEC to see if there could be a possibility that we go back to the SELNEC routes with modern-day alterations like the routes of the outlying area being renumbered to a new system.

I have started looking the Central Division routes and I would simply renumber any existing city centre route back to there original numbers as I have done with the list below

2 Manchester - Oldham Road - Royton - Newhey - Peppermint Bridge Turning Circle
This route could provide valuable connections with Metrolink Rochdale Lane for communities not already connected to the network.
2A Firswood - Piccadilly - Chadderton - Oldham Bus Station
This route could provide an alternative connection for Broadway with a new cross-city connection to Firswood to connect with Metrolink and Providing a service to Oldham from Broadway.
3 Manchester - Stretford - Flixton
4 Manchester - Heywood - Norden
This route could restore a valuable direct bus service back to Norden
5 Manchester - Stretford - Flixton
7 Cheetham Hill - Moston - Failsworth - Hollinwood Station
This route could either extend by the present-day 52 route and provide a better onward connection at a new and improved Hollinwood Interchange with the Metrolink
9 West Didsbury - Heaton Moor - Reddish
10 Manchester - Oldham - Lees - Greenfield
This service could be restored to a limited-stop service to reconnect Saddleworth back to Manchester
11 Piccadilly - Davyhulme - Trafford Centre
12 Piccadilly - Stretford - Flixton
13 Central Park - Oldham - Scouthead - Uppermill
This service could be reinstated as a Limited stop service to reconnect Scouthead to Manchester via the Metrolink Hub at Central Park
14 Manchester Peaks - Central Park - Oldham - Lees - Uppermill
This service could be reinstated as a limited-stop service to connect Saddleworth with Central Park for onward connection to Manchester
15 Piccadilly - Eccles - Worsley
16 Chorlton - Stockport - Stepping Hill
17 Manchester - Middleton - Rochdale
18 Manchester - Stockport - Torkington
This could be a limited-stop service like it used to be
19 Manchester - Gorton - Reddish
20 Manchester - Stockport - Poynton - Woodford
This could be a limited stop alternative to Woodford
21 Stockport - Levenshulme - Chorlton - Stretford - Eccles Interchange
23 Piccadilly - Davyhulme - Flixton
24 Manchester - Royton - Rochdale
Limited Service direct via Oldham Road and Broadway
25 Dukinfield Yew Tree Estate - Audenshaw Metrolink - Manchester LS Peaks
26 Manchester - Cheetham Hill - Blackley - Moston
31 Manchester - Didsbury - Cheadle - Bramhall
33 Manchester - Reddish - Greave - Limited Stop
34 Manchester - Reddish - Romiley - Limited Stop
35 Manchester - Whitefield - Bury - Metrolink Connect
36 Chorlton - Stockport - Offerton Estate
Could provide Metrolink connection for Offerton at Chorlton Station
40 Piccadilly - West Didsbury - Sale Moor
41 Manchester - West Didsbury - Brooklands - Altrincham
42 Manchester - East Didsbury - Stockport
44 Manchester - Northenden - Airport
45 Manchester - Didsbury - Cheadle - Gatley - Airport
46 Manchester - Northenden - Styal - Wilmslow
48 Manchester - Withington - Southern Cemetery
49 Manchester - West Didsbury - Southern Cemetery
50 Salford Quays - Manchester - Anson Road - East Didsbury

Theses are the route numbers as operated with SELNEC and some of the destinations have been changed to reflect some of my ideas on a modern day running of theses services notice how I'm wanting routes to work with Metrolink and other modes of Transport by curtailing or extending some services to Interchange points.

I will hand over to you now so you can your say on my ideas and share you ideas on how buses should be routed if you was tasked with creating a new network of routes to tackle congestion and attract people back on the buses

As we rapidly approach the point at which the Merseyside Dennis Dart Website or (dartslf.com as a lot of us now know it as) is coming up to its 20th anniversary, so I was thinking, what memories do you have of the last 20 years as regards to changes to the bus industry over that time?

What is the most unexpected change over that time? For me probably learning to drive a bus, that wasn't the plan 20 years ago but a very good thing that happened!

What 'could have beens' do you remember the most? Things like Go Ahead nearly buying Gillmoss depot back in late 2000!

What is your favourite bus or type over that period? Enviro400MMC or Optare Solo?! lol

Favourite liveries (or least favourite) from that time? Stagecoach Beachball is one of the best but I've always liked the proper original First Barbie livery too.

What is your own personal favourite photograph of a bus taken during that time? Not sure what mine would be, possibly Stagecoach 10534 VKB708 in Poppy livery, the first day it went out as VKB708.

Please do share any memories you have at all over the time, also let me know if you have been 'here' the whole 20 years and if not how long you have been a reader/member of the website!

I have autism which in turn makes seeing problem with our currrent network a lot easier and it also presents solutions and ideas on ways the network can be improved providing buses to folk to get around without clogging up the roads.

I would love to share my ideas on platform like this so others can have there say on my some time crazy route ideas to most logically improvements.

I'm firm believer of Hospital Routes and connecting Council Estates up to the bus network. as theses are two major incomes for profitable routes in my ideas and having routes that connect likes of Fitton Hill with Manchester is a winner in my eyes because you are then opening up job opportunity for the local residents who can't afford the cost of a car ownership.

Here we go my first batch of routes I would love to see operating.

400 | Bolton - Brieghtment - Bury - Fairfield General Hospital - Bury Road - Rochdale - Summit - Royton - Royal Oldham Hospital - Oldham West Street

This route would open up a new direct link between Bolton and Rochdale serving Fairfield Hospital, as well reconnecting Oldham with Bolton and Bury which as been long missed for the elderly residents who love a good visit around Bury Market. It would the first time that both Fairfield Hospital and Oldham Hospital has been connected together.

401 | Bury - Fairfield General Hospital Grounds - Roch Valley Way - Sandbrook - Kirkholt - Royton - Royal Oldham Hospital - Oldham West Street

This route would provide a variant to the 400 route, bypassing Rochdale and opening open new connection through Kirkholt and Sandbrook for the leisure park. It will be the first time that Kirkholt has been connected to Bury and Oldham and Also first time it seen a service connecting residents to hospitals.

402 | Mills Hill Station - Firwood Park - Chadderton Park - Broadway - Middleton Road - Westwood Metrolink - Oldham - Coldhurst - Royal Oldham Hospital - Carlton Way - Lea View - Royton - Sandy Lane Loop - Tandle Hills - Thornham Loop

A much need local service connecting local comminites with the Railway Line, Metrolink Line, Shops, Parks, Leisure and Hospitals. It will provide a bus service to oldham through Firwood Park for the first time and restore a much need through connection for residents in and around Thorp, Royton and Thornham with connection to a supermarket.

404 | Sholver Pearly Bank - Moorside - Watersheddings - Oldham - Chadderton Way - Burnley Lane - Chadderton Hall Road - Mills Hill - Middleton

A trail route to see if residents living between Sholver and Oldham would benefit from a service to Middleton via Chadderton Way and Chadderton Park. without changing buses in Oldham.

405 | Sholver Pearly Bank - Moorside - Watersheddings - Oldham - Chamber Road - Chapel Road - Limeside Road - Limeside Lime Green Road

This route would restore buses along Chapel Road and be more of a local runner than a profit making route.

406 | Pennine Meadows - Whinberry Way - Sholver - Watershedding - Derker - Oldham - Heron Street - Limeside via Elm Street - Lime Green Road Call - Roman Road - Woodhouses

There possibility of the route extending to Failsworth Day Drive serving Tesco. This would open up many new connections and options for local residents.

408 | Stalybridge - Stamford Park - Tameside Hospital - Hurst - Abbeyhills - Glodwick - Oldham - Royal Oldham Hospital - Shaw Road - Heyside Royton Hospice

The 408 will be restored to Stalybridge but rerouted to serve Tameside Hospital, to make a hospital to hospital connection with Oldham Hospital. It would be extended to terminate in Loop around Heyside.

409 | Rochdale - Royton - Oldham - Hathershaw - Ashton

This route will be upgrading to 24/7 operation and run every day of the year.
