A9 road improvements
A9 road improvements
An average speed camera system should be in place on the A9 between Dunblane and Inverness by next summer, the Scottish government has said.

Speed is only part of the problem on the A9 the other part of the problem is the platooning effect behind HGV's on the single lane sections that causes more of the problems as there is a big speed limit differential for a HGV on a single lane road .

RE: A9 road improvements
Absolute joke. The A9 should have been dualled 30 years ago, and at the very least work should be starting now.

I fully support the plans by the hauliers to have a 40mph protest week at some point, maybe that will finally make people realise that cameras aren't the answer.

RE: A9 road improvements
The big problem with the A9 is that it is like the A30 in Cornwall , busy in the summer months but rather lacklustre for the winter months .

The only reason the Goss Moor stretch was dualled on the A30 is because of the amount of times the bridge was being hit by over height vehicles , disrupting the rail service to Newquay .

It is actually quite surprising the amount of dual carriageway sections there is already , will it be infill dual carriageway or complete new alignment to the present road.
