Greater Manchester Service Changes
RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
Some changes to services around Rochdale and Littleborough. Rosso are extending their 457 service to run a circular route around Shore and Stansfield, which will replace First West Yorkshire's 588 service, which is being withdrawn.

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
Some more changes added on TfGM website today, mostly from First Manchester and First West Yorkshire.

In addition to First WY's 588 being withdrawn, the 589 is also being withdrawn. First West Yorkshire will run the 590 every 30 minutes Monday-Saturday daytime between Rochdale and Halifax via Todmorden and Hebden Bridge.

First Manchester are withdrawing some of the extra peak-time services on the 59, 83, 84, 181/182, 350 and 409, which were introduced for social distancing. The V4 will also be temporarily suspended during the summer holidays. The 184 is also re-timed to run slightly earlier from Uppermill to Huddersfield on weekdays. Also, minor re-timing for the 81, 408 and 425.

The other non-summer changes listed by TfGM this week are minor timetable changes for the 18 (GNW), 149, 151, 364, 396, 456/458, 516, 521, 583 and X5.

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
Derbyshire County Council reporting on more changes to the X57 service from September along with another new service.

The X57 will be re-routed from 5 September 2021 to serve Hyde bus station, providing a express link from Glossop or Manchester and a direct link to Manchester Airport.

From 6 September 2021, Hulleys will also introduce (or partially resurrect) the X1 service, running between Ashbourne and Manchester via Leek and Macclesfield, meaning the old X1 (201) route is back in some form, while Macclesfield's bus link to Manchester is restored.

If the X1 does Macclesfield-Wilmslow-Wythenshawe-Manchester then that will mean the 130 funding will have to be withdrawn, as a subsided service cannot compete with a commercial one.

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
I'm pretty sure the old X1 and 201 before it used to go the direct route to Macclesfield from Manchester via Hazel Grove.

That depends on the stopping arrangement and frequency of the new bus.

Hulleys on the section between Buxton and Bakewell, have banned local travel, only carrying passengers through to Chesterfield or people with a Hulleys ticket connecting onto another Hulleys bus. If they do that and do limited stop, the 130 still has use for local passengers.
Also if the frequency is low, the 130 will continue, maybe hourly Wilmslow to Wyrhenshawe, two hourly extensions to Macc combined with this new route.

I think it is speculation though as I do not see the 130 changing as a result of this. Hulleys won't run often enough and don't like upsetting other operators.

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
The extension of the X57 to Hyde potentially could effect the subsidised 341 service (Stotts) as again it’s a commercial service linking both towns.

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
X57 is turning into the old GM Express Manchester Glossop route. I don't know about the X1 running leek to Ashbourne I would send it to Stoke but would not be local to their depot. what the loading with the 108 service. and would interwork the X1 with X57 with the route changing at Manchester with the Airport put on the X1 but with the same bus so you can still get the X57 to airport

I'm not sure how much Hulleys will know about Cheshire East contracting but the 130 extension to Wythenshawe is being operated on a trial basis and funding for that extension could be withdrawn if the trial doesn't yield acceptable results. It might be they know what date the trial ends or it might be they know little about it.

It doesn't matter how frequent the commercial service is, as least not when it's a Cheshire East Council subsided route. A few years ago they cancelled an invitation to tender for an hourly Knutsford to Macclesfield service with a PVR of 2 because High Peak registered a commercial service with a PVR of 1, even though the High Peak journeys didn't cover every variation of the route that the invitation to tender covered e.g. both Beggarmans Lane and Ollerton. D&G got awarded the 130 Sunday service at one point, which GHA had held up until that point but that award was annulled when GHA decided not to cancel their 130 registration but instead submitted an application to reduce the frequency.

I agree that whatever route Hulleys have picked it won't provide a replacement for all journeys that are possible on the 130 route. However, it'll be down to Cheshire East to decide whether or not an alternative is needed. For example, Alderley Edge to Wilmslow is possible by train and Macclesfield Hospital could be served by an enhanced 88 service or by another service being extended to the hospital. Once the COVID vaccinations at Alderley Park end they'll probably be no need for off-peak services to Alderley Park either.

RE: Greater Manchester Service Changes
Does the first X57 come dead from Baslow and vv in the evening, or do they have arrangements with a local operator?
