It's still cheaper than buying 4 day tickets. thankfully the Merseyside ticket exists though!

I don't really think that £19.50 is expensive for a North West weekly ticket, you have to consider how far you can go and how many buses you have to catch, for example if somebody was to say need 3 buses to get to work, at least £2.20 per bus so £6.60 one way or £13.20 for a day, 5 days a week would be £66 per week yet only pay £19.50 its hardly expensive. Probably cost more than £2.20 for some journeys. And then use the ticket at the weekend for other trips so more money if paid per journey. Expensive, not really.

For the whole north west yes it is cheap but how many people who live beyond the mersey boundary are really going to go that far. West lancs customers don't even have a zone ticket so if you need it for work for example your paying for the entire north west which is not on. What arriva could do at least is introduce Route Savers which would make more fair for customers who live outside merseyside but travel on a route beyond boundaries like the 375/385 or the 395. Not saying all routes like this but for key corridors.

Now, if you are only going to stay in one area and don't have a specific ticket to cover that area then that is a different matter altogether.

Absolutely. I guess the biggest problem for west lancs services is that apart from the 312 all other routes go beyond Lancashire into Merseyside and Greater Manchester that's probably why there isn't a zone for west lancs. I still think a route saver would be a good idea for the main Wigan-Southport corridor though. Even a slighty lower fair in between Mersey and North west prices.

Whilst on the subject of tickets, I'm planning a trip from Chester onto the Wirral to sample Stagecoaches new routes in the area, could someone confirm or advise other wise that a stagecoach day ticket can be used on the quality partnerships routes with Arriva, and if so which. are the Q.P routes. thanks

The Stagecoach Wirral & Liverpool day ticket can be used on Quality Partnership routes on the Wirral, if you wanted to go further into Cheshire to the likes of Chester and Ellesmere Port the Arriva day ticket would be advisable.

1 Liverpool to Chester (Stagecoach only valid up to Hooton Crossroads)
2 Liverpool to Chester (Stagecoach only valid up to Hooton Crossroads)
471 Liverpool to Heswall
472 Liverpool to Heswall

The difference between them is Arriva have a Wirral day saver for £4 which is valid in Wirral but is also valid all the way to Chester on the 1 & 2 services, whereas the Stagecoach Wirral & Liverpool £3.70 ticket is valid in Wirral but also in Liverpool (where the Arriva Wirral one is not valid).

EDIT: The Dayrider Plus at £4 is valid on all QBP services and all the way to Chester.

How complicated to try and explain to a passenger , the companies dont do themselves any favours having day ticket prices the same with differing validities , but thats the major groupings for you.
