After its day on the Ormskirk route, 507001 went onto the Southport line this evening, starting with the 17.13 from Liverpool Central. Both advertising sets were also on the Southport route, along with 507011 and its new livery.

The other re-liveried sets were all out, with 507031 and 508114 as MX12 mentioned on the Ormskirk line, 508122 on the Kirkby line, 507017 on the West Kirby route and 508115 Ellesmere Port.

Inside the depot, 507027 looks just about finished, although this time the grey side is facing the glass.

Problems with signalling on the Wirral Line this afternoon saw 508122 arrive at Liverpool Central at 1642. On departure it ran non stop to Chester arriving at 1718.

That reminds me actually. Last Tuesday (11/03/14), the 16.43 Southport - Hunts Cross service ran direct from Liverpool Central to Hunts Cross due to late running. Significant for two reasons: the first time I've seen a non-stop train on the Hunts Cross section of line and it suggests a change of policy to run the 16.43 (and 17.51 return) as a six car regardless of late running. It's certainly been a while since I've seen this service short-formed: high time it was sorted.

It's because of that tight turnaround at Southport that if sometimes runs as a 3-car.

It does happen a fair bit the express running to Hunts Cross.

The reason last week it ran express was due to below threshold delay.

Looks like Merseyrail have had an absolute nightmare on the northern line this evening! Failed train by sandhills is all that I know of, any idea what else has gone on or what unit failed?
