Saw a story in yesterday's Manchester Evening News, also reported in the Liverpool Daily Post (with a bit more information) about Cumfybus's move into Bolton, where it's reported that the company took out a £431,000 finance package from Santander in order to fund 3 new buses and operate the recently gained tenders in Bolton and Wigan.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but they are the first bus company to run in Greater Manchester with a fleet that is 100% hybrid.

If I were the MD of Cumfybus I would be taking advantage of that in the advertisement of the company. I reckon they will be a shining star of a company to TfGM too, not to mention their impeccable punctuality I have witnessed first hand up to yet!

A delightful company - at least the Bolton branch. Smile

This part of there tender application im led to beleive as from a tfgm bus supervisor told me they put in there apication that they would run all the tenders with hybrids unless they are really short then may use a normal engined veichle but only in extreme emergency so will just have to wait and see if they keep to it .
Ordinary One in Bolton on Friday on a route 531?

RE: Cumfybus
They'd be obliged to keep it up if it really was a contractual agreement though. If normal vehicles start appearing regularly, then I'd be inclined think the movement of hybrids to Bolton was an initial PR event to give the company a positive first impression in the area.

It's not as if the previous operating company had a full fleet of hybrids though so, as long as the services run and do so punctually, I don't see any problem with them running older diesel vehicles on contracts which don't stipulate a hybrid.
