As far as I know, Stagecoach, along with every other operator in Merseyside no longer equip their vehicles with two-way radios and so it can't be anything to do with that. I am curious to know what this is feature is as I read recently that the first route to provide real-time information at bus stops later this year will be the QBP 53. Any answers?

It would appear that the plates are the protective covers for aerials for the two-way radios that are being fitted to Gillmoss vehicles. Does anyone know why Stagecoach have been willing to invest in such kit? As far as I am aware no other operator in Merseyside fits communication equipment to their buses.
