Was this bus war the reason why 87/88 from Neston and Parkgate ended up transferring from Crosville to Merseybus as well? |

Not sure, but at d-reg a couple of 88 journeys were numbered 88B & extended to Liverpool. My Flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/31135444@N02/ |

RE: Route History
Question about the 22 (West Kirby-Chester). I'm aware in recent times, the route alternated between Stagecoach and Avon Buses. However, around 2006, the route was operated by Arriva and numbered 421/422 (421 via Burton, 422 via Willaston). Any ideas how long Arriva were on the route for? |

RE: Route History
Arriva took over the 22/23 from First group, think 2004, renumbered it 421/422 to fit in with the other Arriva Wirral route numbers but only operated the 421/422 for a couple of years, not sure when arriva withdrew the 421/422, Arriva operated the 421/422 from Chester depot, so you had the weird sight of Arriva Wales buses in West Kirby & Heswall. 22/23 was traditionally Crosville route C22/C23, operated by Chester & West Kirby depots, think Heswall depot had some journey's too, Crosville dropped the C, in the 90s to be come 22/23, the C22/C23 later 22/23 operated Chester-Meols, using the back roads by the Railway Inn to turn around My Flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/31135444@N02/ |

RE: Route History
More info on the Crosville 87/88 in summer 88, Merseybus extended the 10/10A to Parkgate, & Merseybus introduces the 488, Crosville C10 original New Brighton-Stanney Grange, which lead Merseybus to start a 66 Clatterbridge-Stanney Grange covering the southern part of the C10, the C10 was cut New Brighton-Rock Ferry & withdrawn in 1991, the 66 didn't last long either C6 was Ellesmere Port-Liverpool covering most of the 151 which Gold Star had won the tender for, but the C6 only lasted 2 months My Flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/31135444@N02/ |

Looking at the 102 Aintree University Hospital-Broadgreen Hospital or Page Moss timetable, that's had some changes over the years, originally Broadgreen-Broadway via Croxteth, i'm sure the 102 was extended to Walton Cavendish Drive, then CMT extended it to Central Bus Station, CMT operated the 102 commercially too. It's also had many operators over the years including Halton, JC Mini's, Arena and Merseyrider. |

Think in the 1980's this was the time when Crosville had depots at Heswall and West kirby. Think West kirby was closed first but then reopened when Heswall closed , then not long after West Kirby closed again this time for good. It maybe that Rock ferry didnt have much room after the transfer of all the work at heswall for 71 and 72 , im not sure whether there was any Barnston work still at heswall and they still had the 177/178. Think the neston work was marginal beyond Clatterbridge Hospital , dont forget the 488 operated via Mount Road not the route they do these days and at that time merseybus was looking at routes beyond there standard area of merseyside. These days it wouldnt surprise me if Arriva would like to get rid of the 487 now as this is the only work at Laird street south of a line from Clatterbridge Hospital to New Ferry. |

RE: Route History
I wonder which Merseytravel contract had the most amount of operators ? I also wonder which Merseytravel contract route had the least amount of operator changes. Im wondering whether it was the 129 Seaview Road to Frankby Cemetery service. There must be some history to that route. |

RE: Route History
Old C22/C23 Meols-West Kirby-Chester definitely a contender, this route had 5 operators all under tender on one timetable in the late 80s, Crosville/Crosville Wales/Arrowbrook/Mathews Coaches/PMT Red Rider, think Lofty's might have had some contract journeys at one time too.
