On our way we boarded the tram at Piccadilly Gardens. I was surprised that it was just a single tram (3019). Needless to say it was wedged by the time we got to Bury.
On our return we arrived at the Interchange at 1450, the tram arrived at 1510. Again just a single tram (3018) for a vast throng of passengers who had been waiting. We were lucky that we got a seat because for those standing it must have been an uncomfortable and very sweaty journey. We left passengers behind at Bury, Ratcliffe and all other stations down the line because they could not get on board!
What are Metrolink playing at putting single trams out on a restricted service on a Saturday? Metrolink management should be sacked for such a lack of foresight.

I am also surprised by the use of single trams yesterday, when there were so many spare units due to engineering works on the western sections! I rode a single unit from Ashton to Piccadilly, heading for Bury, at around 7pm.

On June 14th I went to Bury for a meal woth a friend. It was a double working, and I sat at the front of the rear unit (if you get my drift). Thus it creted the appearance as though we were running driverless and pushing the front unit for good measure!

Other than before the end of 2014 has anybody heard of a definitive date for the Manchester Airport tram service to begin.

Is this service going to start from Cornbrook when it does start ?

I had heard the beginning of November and yes it will only run as far as Cornbrook until the 2nd City Crossing is done.

Once the Second City Centre crossing is complete isn't the Manchester Airport service going forward to Shaw & Crompton .

Think that's the plan to put the City Centre - Shaw & Crompton section up to the promised every 6 minutes.

Is there a plan to increase the frequency on the Ashton line in the near future from every 12 minutes down to every 6 minutes during times of high demand , we already see an alteration to services when there is events on at the Etihad.
