SLT have indeed still got S400SLT the Omnilink, it does various routes during the week but on Saturday's its normally on 300s with its regular driver

I noticed in the video the bus shown appears to be an ex demonstrator with what looks like the Scania logo on the rear, I don't think I've seen this on any buses SLT have. Could this have actually been another bus (S200 SLT?).

RE: South Lancs Travel - Metroline1511 - 22/11/2014 22:17

I am likely to ride any of routes 516, 517, 521, 641 or 642 next Saturday. I wonder what vehicles regularly run these routes?

RE: South Lancs Travel - VolvoB10M - 22/11/2014 23:25

From what I've seen the 517 is normally a Scania L94UB/Wright Axcess Floline, 516 is usually a Dart/MPD.

They have (or at least, had) one of each; I think you're right that S400 SLT is the OmniCity, with the OmniLink being S600 SLT.

They look very similar, the main difference is the driveline layout. OmniLink's is like that of a Floline or Solar, whereas OmniCity has the engine crosswise.

The OmniLink also looks slightly taller to me, though I'm not sure whether it actually is.

RE: South Lancs Travel - VolvoB10M - 23/11/2014 19:06

Are Omnilink engines mounted horizontally or are they vertical and are the newer Wright Solar's (e.g. Rosso 234) the same as Omnilink's underneath?

RE: South Lancs Travel - VolvoB10M - 23/11/2014 20:36

Are the Omnicity's inclined engines actually Mercedes? I heard somewhere they where, plus they lack the distinctive growl that can be heard from L94UB's to 2006 K114's (Mayne 35) as well as having completely different radiator layout's to a lot of other Scania vehicles.

I think Rosso's are L94UB's and K230UB's.

Thanks for letting me know. The 517 could therefore be a more interesting ride!

I used to get it when I finished college last year, when I was based at the (now closed) Horwich campus, then get a bus from Leigh to Manchester (X34) before returning to Bury.

Could registration "S600 SLT" have been transferred between 2 different vehicles when the original was destroyed in Leigh?

I think the engines in the First Bury bendy's have tilted engines although they carry "Omnicity" badges, I've seen the engine in 12006 after it broke down once. I have not seen any other engine on a Scania.
