Im interested to know what the criteria is for making routes sapphire , as shaun says this wouldn't be a big increase of seats .

Seems there's been some tweaking to the original order for the 53 new deckers...

According to the latest Arriva Merseyside JOURNEY booklet (Winter 2014), 15 deckers are coming to Bootle depot (not 16 as recently suggested) and 12 are going to Green Lane (not 11).
The 26 are still on order for St Helens and the booklet says delivery dates are scheduled for December/January/February meaning -of course- that NONE of them will get the 15-reg plate which comes out March 2015.

The free JOURNEY booklet is available now from most Arriva Merseyside buses.

Conceivably, as the last to be delivered, Bootle's batch could be held at the depot until March to receive the 15 plate, in the same way that most of Speke's were in order to take the 64 plate. It appears from date of timetable revisions that Green Lane's batch will go into traffic on 11 January and St Helens' batch on 1 February.

The Arriva facebook page says that the Enviro400 in Huyton today was one of 11.

Didn't ir specify one of 11 for a particular route?

Exactly, I guess the remaining vehicles will just be used where necessary

How many extra seats does a Enviro400 have over a Pulsar,as someone at merseytravel reckons very few and the
impending swop of buses was not worth bothering about

47 upstairs and 31 downstairs plus room for at least 12 standees (going off standing capacity on our 'MAX' examples in the North East - Sapphire examples have room for 18) making a capacity of 90. Pulsars seat 44 (which is 3 less than the Enviro400's upper deck) and hold around 30-ish standees (not got a good idea - been a while since I was on one) which makes anything from 74 up to around 80 which is 10-16 less than an Enviro400.

I think the most significant difference is that an Enviro400 seats 34 more than a Pulsar which is a massive improvement. Ask some of the regular passengers on the 10/10A and 52/52A who often have to stand up as their bus is full and I'm sure they'll be delighted that bigger buses are on the way.
