ScotRail - wirralbus - 22/06/2012 18:13

Alcohol is being banned from Scottish trains in the evenings and mornings, following concerns about drink-fuelled anti-social behaviour.

ScotRail has decided to prohibit the carrying and consumption of alcohol on its services between 21:00 and 10:00, starting on 20 July.

When I was in Edinburgh on May 26th I noticed a start of refurbishments to class 334 trains, and rode 334 020. It makes sense to have them in new ScotRail rather than Strathclyde Transport livery, as they go well east of Strathclyde.

Several of the ScotRail EMU fleet have now been repainted into Scotland's Railway blue and white. Listed below for reference are those I have as re-liveried. Not sure on the DMU fleet at the moment.

Class 314
314203
314204
314211
314212

Class 318
None

Class 320
320302
320303
320304
320306
320308
320313
320314
320315
320316
320321

Class 334
334006
334012
334020
334028

Class 380
Entire fleet

By the way Metroline, the entire ScotRail fleet is eventually to be repainted into the new blue colours. I believe SPT's sponsorship of the Glasgow suburban services has come to an end.

Due to a derailment of a freight train in the Tulloch area between Crianlarich and Fort William which happened in bad weather on the 28th June a rail replacement coach service is in operation between these points , because of the extensive damage caused by the derailment the line is not expected to be reopened before the 11th July .

Here is a picture of the derailment : http://www.scotrail.co.uk/sites/default/files/images/stationfacilities/6S45_derailment_280612_018.jpg

It is reported that Transport Scotland have cut the budget for the EGIP electrification scheme from £1 billion to £650 million. As a result electrification to Stirling, Dunblane and Alloa has been cancelled.

An amusing sight yesterday was 314204, working Glasgow - Cathcart/Newton services with both door sets in carriage 64589 marked out of use. This left the unit running round as effectively a 2-car set for the day. It later joined forces with 314205 to work Cathcart and Neilston journeys in the afternoon peak, including the busy 17.38 Glasgow - Neilston service, now in effect a 5-car. Not surprisingly, the coach remained empty throughout the day from what I saw. It must surely be rare for a multiple unit to see service with an entire carriage worth of doors locked with faults?

RE: ScotRail - childwallblues - 06/08/2012 08:04

I was in Glasgow last Tuesday (31/07). The Glasgow Central to Whifflet service is normally Haymarket based 158s. It was therefore a surprise to see Inverness based 158724 on the service with 158729 and 158789.
156512 (CK) and 158782 (HA) were on the Glasgow Queen Street to Annisland service.

An agreement is set to be signed to officially hand over responsibility to Network Rail for delivering a rail route from the Borders to Edinburgh.

RE: ScotRail - H101GEV - 04/12/2012 19:54

The Paisley Canal line has been energised and electric trains are now operating part of the service. There have been several 314s and 380s used to far; with the upcoming December timetable change, DMU operation will cease. Off-peak services will be formed of 314s, with the busier peak time journeys handled by 380s. Have to get over to Glasgow for a ride on this line soon.

RE: ScotRail - childwallblues - 04/12/2012 20:24

It will not compltely see off the 156s, They will appear if there is an emu shortage. The displaced DMUs are going on the Whifflet service to release 158s to Inverness.
