New vehicles for the Witchway are imminent now.

Transdev YouTube Teaser posted on Friday 20th;

With one spotted outside Falkirk on the same day;

Some will also be going to York for the Cityzap. They look superb inside so 'Sky Class' is quite appropriate!

Launch of the new vehicles on the WitchWay X43 service will be on 13th December, according to Transdev.

This is the plan for the purchase:
  • The depots at Elland and Waterloo will be transferred to Transdev
  • Routes 231 and 232 are not included in the purchase, and are expected to transfer to Arriva Yorkshire
  • 61 buses from the Yorkshire Tiger fleet will become Transdev vehicles, along with all 163 drivers, engineers, cleaning, and support colleagues based at the two depots included in the purchase join the Transdev team
  • Transdev have said that it will integrate Yorkshire Tiger's current day and season passes into its range of unlimited travel tickets, whilst West Yorkshire Metro's range of multi-operator tickets will continue to be valid on all services.

Transdev statement can be found here on their news section: https://www.transdevbus.co.uk/keighley/Transdev_acquires_Yorkshire_Tiger

Yorkshire Tiger have posted this statement on their website:

Quote:Reactive Press Statement:
This week, Arriva has signed a preliminary agreement to sell its Yorkshire Tiger bus operations to Transdev. The move will not impact customers and the majority of employees will transition as part of the arrangement with some remaining as part of the Arriva Yorkshire family. The intention to sell is part of a local review as we look to recover from the impact of the COVID19 and will allow us to focus our operations in Yorkshire. All services except for the 231 and 232 are included in this sale. We are committed to working closely with Transdev, to ensure the effective transition and will support our staff as they become part of the Transdev team. Our Elland and Huddersfield depot teams have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic and we are very proud of the part they have played in supporting the local community and keeping people connected.

No surprise that Arriva are looking to integrate the 231/232 into their main Arriva network, as it will compliment the rest of the Wakefield network. Similar situation happened in February, when Yorkshire Tiger's 262 service between Huddersfield and Brighouse via Mirfield was partly replaced by an extended Arriva service 261, running between Cleckheaton and Huddersfield via Mirfield. Also, Yorkshire Tiger's 502 service between Keighley and Halifax will fit in nicely with the rest of Transdev's Keighley network too, whilst allow Transdev to expand further into West Yorkshire.

Wonder whether Transdev will look to re-name The Keighley Bus Company to something more suitable for the West Yorkshire region or if we will see the Huddersfield Bus Company name resurrected, which was Yorkshire Tiger's old name as it transitioned from Centrebus to Yorkshire Tiger.

With Transdev expanding further into West Yorkshire, it shall be interesting to see what impact it'll have in the contracted work around Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees in the future. Could easily see Transdev going for the 587 contract between Rochdale and Halifax and perhaps could look to increase their presence around Hebden Bridge and Todmorden with the mini bus networks there. Any other contracted services from First and TLC Travel may also come into Transdev sights. May also look to create some links between some of their other networks around Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Yorkshire too.

I see a big issue the new buses don`t meet the bus station spec so dont meet Risk assessment as you can't open doors on platform. Someone will have to pay for mod to stops or other buses used.
So have to use the coach bay but what happens to NX and Holiday coaches

The door can be opened on the boarding/alighting area if those driving them make full use of the space available

It's hard to tell from a photograph but I'd say there's at least a foot between the bonnet and the railings
