It was reported that Speke is getting 2 more VLW`s in September so they may be going there, although the 2 VLW`s at St Helens are surplus there now since they lost school contracts. Is it definite the Southport B7s are going to Winsford or just a rumour, Southport still has DLA`s to replace and also Speke will still be short of buses even after it gets the new Enviro400s due to the demise of it`s Bendys. So Southport may not part with them or they could end up back at Speke.

It has been reported elsewhere that Speke are likely to get Commanders 2504-13 ex Wales currently at Bolton.

I can't see Southport being able to keep eight 55-plated 'deckers for five school boards.

Dunno what's going on atm alls I know is our DLAs will need replacing soon as S regs their all now at least 16 years old & I believe arriva dispose of vehicles around 17/18 years old???

Arriva NW get shut of most of their vehicles at 15 years old.

The DLAs still in use with Arriva North West and Arriva Buses Wales are between 15 and 15 1/2 years old. Rhyl's 4041 is the oldest DLA still in service at the moment

Today (sat) for some bizarre reason macc have chosen to put optare 705 on #38 & 4489 is on the bollington circuit!!!

Why the hell they've done it is beyond me as the #38 gets much larger passenger loadings than the #10.705 was packed to capacity within 5 mins of leaving macc on the 09:10 duty.

Copey any ideas why they swop sometimes for an optare on sat? Deckers on macc locals is overkill big time.

Can't really answer for Macc as I work in Winsford, but I would suggest that maybe 4489 has some issues requiring it to be kept on a route local to the depot and I don't think that Macc have a spare DLA to use as we have had their 4042 for a while now. I do agree that an optare would seem unsuitable for the 38.
Before Macc took over all the 38's we used to use 4489 on 84's on a Sat and substitute it with either a DLA or a Centro on the 38.
Hope this helps.
