The two new ferries being built by Ferguson Marine of Port Glasgow, the Glen Sannox and Glen Rosa were due to be delivered in 2018 but are now six years late and four times more than the £97 million budget for the ships. A further delay of at least two months is now forecast and another cost increase as the Glen Sannox missed her move into drydock due to high winds and cannot get a new booking before 3rd April.
Ferguson Marine was nationalised by the Scottish Government in 2018.

Caledonian Isles which is one of two ferries operating the route from Ardrossan to Brodick (Arran) has been drydocked at Cammell Laird, Birkenhead for her annual overhaul. She is likely to remain at the shipyard for up to four months as the amount of work to be done on her is substantial.
She is in No.7 drydock.

Due to a ferry shortage CalMac have had to cancel the summer ferry service from Ardrossan to Campbeltown for the second year running.
This means people using their cars will have to use the A83 road to and from Campbeltown which is continually closed south of its junction at Rest and Be Thankful due to landslides. When this happens there is a 59 mile diversion.
