Arriva Trains Wales
RE: Arriva Trains Wales
Well is there any financial justification to electrify to Shotton if you was going to electrify the line all the way to Wrexham would probably be more feasible.

Who in there right mind would want to wait for services at Shotton , there would have to be an infrastructure change as all the pointwork for returning is all towards Dee Marsh Junction and and without a change the Bidston - Shotton service would block it .

There was an extra 22.48 Wrexham to Bidston tonight, does anyone know why?

It ran as a STP starting at Wrexham General but had a normal reporting number 2F78. On arrival it returned as 5D78 2345 to Chester via Wrexham General arriving at 0051.

A friend of mine who lives in Wrexham informs me that there was an Ollie Murs concert at Wrexham Football ground last night. I think that will be the reason.

Just 5 though for now, partly to cover refurbishments. Although, it's possible a greater number will be used to replace Pacers.

There was a report on Granada Reports just now showing how hard it is to get between Manchester and a 'Northern Powerhouse' Science Park at Ellesmere Port. The report showed the reporter travelling on the ATW loco hauled set.

Maybe a little easier from May 2018 if the Northern consultation is anything to go by. Some journeys on the proposed Chester - Leeds service will divert to Ellesmere Port at peak times.
