TransPennine Express
RE: TransPennine Express
I was going to ask if they had a deviation from group standards to run passenger trains without a brake vehicle, but as far as I can see there is no reference in the rule book to needing one, or indeed any other specific reference to locomotive hauled passenger trains.

It vanished a few years ago. There will have to be somewhere for the emergency equipment that would normally be in a brake vehicle in one of the coaches though.

There is an Anglia buffet car along with the ex-Virgin one so presumably they will be used for that.

Likely to be changes yet. TPE have based their plans on running 350s via Bolton, which won't be possible due to Network Rail not delivering electrification on time. If they continue to operate 350s via Chat Moss and Wigan it may affect timings for other services on the Chat Moss route.

Please ignore the new timetable on RTT for the moment.

Whats the difference between Class 1 and Class 9 trains on that RTT for the Chat Moss services anyway , even if they may need tinkering with a bit .

I wondered if it is to differentiate them from the Glasgow via WCML services in the future as both would otherwise be 1Sxx.

TPE will be branding their new trains 'Nova' after the Nova star.

In which case someone is scientifically illiterate.
;
A nova (plural novae or novas) or classical nova (CN or plural CNe) is a transient astronomical event that causes the sudden appearance of a bright, apparently "new" star, that slowly fades over several weeks or many months.
