The conversation has now gone round full cirlce and not for the first time. Regardless of whatever Arriva should or shouldn't have done, it's probably best to leave it there. As mentioned, the reliability problems stem from an issue with additional electrical systems installed during refurbishment so hopefully something which will be rectified at some point. Best to move on for now though...
