Twenty years of low floor buses!
RE: Twenty years of low floor buses!
Also I think CMT's CVE Omni 's were around 1989. I think the full size Neoplan was the proper first attempt at a standard low floor vehicle.

Now I do remember those CMT things and probably rode one or two.

I think the Quests were registered immediately after Merseyside's last Atlantean 1070 (B926 KWM) as they share similar registrations.

I remember one registered C844OBG, think it was 0087. The idea at the time was 1 of these for each division and 1 spare.

Without turning this into a Quest 80 thread, from my memory it was constructed from a Ford Cargo wagon chassis married up to a Perkins Phaser engine and an Allison gearbox.

And besides the late lamented MPTE the only other "volume(ish)" buyer was Excelsior of Bournemouth who took 2 batches with the A8xx LEL and B9xx SPR registration numbers with Plaxton Paramount 3200 bodies with a low driving position. Essentially they had Paramount 3500 windscreens and no feature .windows. Excelsior also took some Volvo B10Ms with the same body at the time.
