Would be a waste using them on schools. Be interesting to see what replaces the DLAs though.

Are you sure there is no subsidiary at all?

UoM used to pay a proportion of subsidiary to allow their staff and students free travel between the main campus and UMIST campus. The 147 buses would also be used on special campus open days between Piccadilly and Brunswick Street to transport prospective students and their parents from the station.

Its in the most recent tfgm minutes that stagecoach are going to run the route commercially and subsidy will be withdrawn by them

Wasn't there an NHS subsidy for hospital workers to get free travel as well?

RE: Bullocks Coaches
External subsidies don't count when it comes to running things 'commercially' as far as I know. Funding for staff and students can carry on if the uni/NHS wish but that is nothing to do with TFGM. TFGM can withdraw their funding. As far as I know, you don't even have to put NHS or Uni funding on the registration. If you get funding from a PTE or council, then it is classed as subsidised. Otherwise it is 'commercial'

From what's been posted elsewhere as is the norm operators were asked to tender for the contract as it was up for renewal. Bullocks won the tender, presumably offering the lowest price to run it but then Stagecoach decided to register a new '147' service commercially with the route extension so the subsidy was removed all together.
It's now a completely commercial set up.

There was/is funding by the NHS however staff do not get free travel on the 147.

They did get free travel on the Belle Vue Car Park shuttle services and free travel (as did patients) on the Trafford Shuttle

No. The 147 website does mention The University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, Royal Northern College of Music, Central Manchester hospitals actively supporting and promoting travel by sustainable means. However, for the hospital staff it only states further information is available on the hospital intranet system.

Well I would assume from September there will be no discounts as it's a completely commercial service with no subsidies.
I'm just wondering whether it will be a magic service or corporate??
