Taken from todays Evening Standard

"Outside London, FirstGroup said bus revenue was flat and warned it would no longer invest in new buses in areas where the local authority was not actively working to lower congestion."

RE: First Manchester
More strikes days planned at Rusholme depot in the run-up to Christmas.

Service 42 (East Didsbury-Manchester) is reduced again to every 20 minutes between 0700 and 1830 tomorrow (20 November). From next Monday (27 November), Rusholme depot will go on strike on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays until 15 December. The 42 will run the reduced service again, however the 41 (which is running normal service on 20 November) will also run a reduced 20 minute frequency until 1900 before running the normal evening service to/from Altrincham.

Bit of an empty threat, given their overall appalling record of investment (Leeds apart) for a good decade or so? Also, what do they mean about "Actively working to lower congestion"? Apart from possibly introducing/increasing parking charges, LA's can't interfere in the free market where people choose to use cars/rail. The only area where LAs and other public bodies are failing - spectacularly - is law enforcement.

Typical First though. More excuses not to invest in new vehicles - let's instead recruit more 'business managers' with degrees in just about everything business wise but have absolutely no understanding of public transport!

Problem here in Manchester is when the main rival (Stagecoach) is continually investing in brand new vehicles it makes the lack of investment by First all the more obvious.

RE: First Manchester
I had 33833 home on a late running 17:53 24 from Manchester last night so there's at least 2 currently at Oldham Depot and yes they have borrowed Rusholme Enviro400s in the past.

As for Streetlite on 415 interesting one this as I believe it went the normal route so they obviously have realised that they do fit under the bridge on Foxdenton/Grimshaw Lane.
