North West Bus Service Changes due to Coronavirus outbreak
RE: North West Bus Service Changes due to Coronavirus outbreak
Diamond (Along with Preston Bus) have had the 50% thing in for weeks now, In fact i am struggling to think of an operator not doing 50% as even Arriva and Stagecoach are doing it now.

As I driver I’ve noticed a trickle of an increase in passenger numbers but still nothing like what it was. I honestly think things will remain quiet till Christmas or even into next year.
It will trickle up slowly but I think you need to compare apples with apples as summer times are always quieter than 'normal'. While I don't dispute we are still far from even summer bus usage, a like for like comparison would be worth as I think the percentage will be higher than that which is being reported at times.

Some routes will always see a bigger uptick in passengers than other routes , think being honest some of the routes that happened to be marginal this Coronavirus will have been the last thing that was required.

Merseytravel , TfGM and the various council bodies will need to be canny at what they look for in a bus service when they support it .

Think that there will be numerous bus reviews within the next few years.

Exactly and they'll be a number of factors outside the control of the bus operator such as what employers decide to do, how many medical appointments are face-to-face, what other public transport operators decide to do in the area, how many shops and businesses have fully reopened etc.

I notice in Cheshire Northern's Chester-Northwich-Knutsford-Altrincham-Manchester service seems to be their most neglected route but D&G's 88 & 89 bus services serving Northwich, Knutsford & Altrincham were one of the first to go back to their normal timetable. Possibly someone at either D&G or Cheshire East thought the 88/89 bus routes could carry some of the passengers that Northern have forgotten about?

From Tuesday buses going in to Macclesfield bus station must drop off passengers at the parking/taxi bays on Queen Victoria Street and then proceed to the bus station to pick up passengers 'to aid social distancing.' That'll be inconvenient if anyone is intending to change buses at the bus station!

https://www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/council_...ation.aspx

The Google Streetview for Queen Victoria Street provides some different views of the vehicles at Macclesfield Bus Station over the years. 2011 shows a Cheshire Connect branded Dart and a Bakerbus vehicle. 2015 shows possibly the same Dart now 27 branded and a Sapphire 38? decker and there's also a more recent 2018 view.
