HS2 Leeds dropped & Northern Powerhouse Rail scaled back
New Warrington to Marsden line is instead of Northern Powerhouse Rail/HS3 and eastern spur of HS2 to only go as far as East Midlands Parkway. Grant Shapps claims new plans can deliver benefits sooner and will benefit Doncaster, Grantham, Huddersfield, Wakefield, and Leicester.

RE: HS2 Leeds dropped & Northern Powerhouse Rail scaled back
The scaling back of the eastern leg of HS2 to end at East Midlands Parkway means the MML will be ekectrified from Kettering to Leeds via Derby and to Nottingham.
The Trans Pennine HS3 has been dropped meaning full electrification of the current route via Standedge.
A new high speed line will be built from Warrington to Marsden.

All time rail mileage travelled 327264 miles
