Successful Hydrogen Bus Grant for Merseyside
Successful Hydrogen Bus Grant for Merseyside
Looks as though another biding scheme for buses has also been awarded that will see Hydrogen buses going onto Merseyside for operation in Liverpool and St Helens.

Didn't know anything about this until I just found it in a google search. This is a different fund to the Governments Green Bus Fund and this funding looks to be coming from elsewhere.

Very interesting, I wonder which operator(s) will get them?

I wonder what types too - there is a hydrogen fuel cell Enviro400MMC development bus doing the rounds so it would be good if it was something like that more so than an imported bus that is entirely non-standard as in Scotland.

Could it possibly arriva st helens for the 10/10A As im sure it's got a joint PVR of around 25 or 26.
But then again would you order an extra 1 for a spare.

As hydrogen is the most common element in the universe (thanks Professor Brian Cox), will these be any cheaper to run? Somehow I doubt it.

If they are for the 10/10As what would happen to the Enviros would they get cascaded?

would make sense to send the small number of Gemini deckers back to Speke, with Enviro400s picking up the numbers on the 89s,beyond that does St Helens need extra deckers

Just bumping this topic back up....would be the likely explanation for the hydrogen fuel cell E400MMC SN15LRU being at Gillmoss currently.... http://www.flickr.com/photos/dmc1947/46697398454

I'm not actually sure it is, maybe its for Hydrogen experience, but not as choice of vehicle as Aberdeen, who the bid is jointly with have already specified the Wright Streetdeck, as already demonstrated to Transport for London (TfL) as their chosen vehicle, so think the same also applies to the St Helens scheme also, so look out for this vehicle coming North to Merseyside and also Aberdeen on demonstration or loan in the near future.

Just seen this vehicle on test runs, it was at Ravenhead Retail Park at 1.20 this afternoon.

The hydrogen Enviro400MMC is at Mann Island today for promotional work - looks like ADL are the partner (not Wrightbus) as the bus is covered in ADL and Arcola Energy branding now!
