Does anyone know what is happening with the timetable changes to services 1 & 2 from 14 June? No timetables as yet, but the stagecoach website mentions that a small number of services are to be withdrawn & service 1 will go via the zoo until 19:30.

The latter decision makes sense in the summer, but as the zoo closes at dusk in the winter, I struggle to see this being viable all year round?

Don't forget although the zoo closes to the public, a large number of zoo staff use this route to and from work, and as there is no stop on the A41 by the zoo entrance, they would have to walk all the way to the Wheatsheaf.

I always pick up a number of zoo staff in the early morning and late evening on 1s that do not serve the zoo. Perhaps they've realised its not just day trippers that use it..

Regarding the X8 that runs light to Liverpool in the mornings, rumour is that this X8 trip is operated by Birkenhead and will be on the Split rota. Presume it interworks with a 1/2, unless the full operation of the route is split, which I highly doubt. Whether true or not is another matter.

It also allows the Zoo to get its carbon footprint down even more by allowing more staff to use public transport than bringing there own car to work with them.

Once again if we are talking about the service 1 Liverpool - Chester , this should only be a double decker really if its duplicated by a single decker vehicle on race days . I know there is a double decker route but really if it isn't duplicated it shouldn't run as a double decker as stops are missed out , if you had an appointment and the bus missed them stops that you was waiting at , im sure you would be highly miffed to say the least.

Once again...bus turns up for the majority or no service for anyone? Not exactly a difficult choice, making the best of a bad situation.

Thats because, Stagecoach have competition from First!, in Manchester area. As I have said in the past, in some areas Stagecoach treat they passengers like S***, whilst in other areas they go all out for they passengers.

Its all the more ironic, given the comments about a lack of 'deckers in Liverpool compared to the operations of their biggest competitor. I'm not sure how long the "diversion" route is (ie. how many stops missed out), nor how far from the proper route, it is. But certainly, if we take Wirralbus's scenario, then it would be interesting to see what would happen if inconvenienced passengers complained direct to the Traffic Commissioner. A lot, of course, would depend on the time of day; If this happens *very occasionally* at and around peak times, due to unforseen circumstances - and a Race meeting certainly wouldn't qualify as unforseen! - then OK. However, if happening in the evening when the inconvenience is greater (hour gap instead of 30 mins), and there should be plenty of single-deckers available, then it is rank bad management - not something those of us at the eastern end of the A580 would associate with Stagecoach.

The traffic commissioner wouldn't be able to do anything as the route is signposted. This isn't a stagecoach "diversionary route" It's one by Cheshire and Cheshire West Council. All stagecoach would need to do is declare that the diversion route was used.

The route in question takes the next road along and only missed about 4 bus stops on a small stretch of road on a local housing area which there is a high level of car ownership. There is also Bache station down the road (Where the bridge is) should people need to get to their destination faster. It happens once in a blue moon as apposed to every day, and on the last bus stop (Morrisons Bache) there is another round the corner where the 1 can stop alongside other services such as the 2 and X2.

Stagecoach do have competition in this area from Arriva - just not on this particular route as it is a Quality Partnership.
