All four vehicles of this operator are now in similar liveries. The latest to obtain the livery is MB Atego / Unvi YN55KWB which was previously pink - [- PHOTO-]

I have a website which looks at the bus and coach operators in North East Wales. There are current fleetlists for all operators and most have a full historic fleet list.
Included are current depot fleet lists for Arriva Cymru. There are also a number of ceased opertators with historic fleet lists including the GHA Group

Coastline Taxis Rhyl – JWS (Cars) Limited
Today was the first day that Coastline have operated the 55 / X5 service Ruthin – Corwen – (Wrexham) service. They have recently won this Denbighshire CC contract from Llew Jones. The service will initially follow exactly the same timetable - which is available on the Denbighshire website.

One or two teething problems noticed today. The 9.30 departure from Ruthin was nearly 20 minutes late.

Apparently two new buses are on order ( 1 x Metrocity and 1 x Solo SR) but initially two Optare demonstrators / loan vehicles are being used - Versa YJ64DZL (Photo 1) and Solo SR YJ64DVD [PHOTO2]. The latter is no stranger to the area as two years ago it was being trialled by GHA from Ruthin working mainly the Ruthin – Mold corridor.

What is up with the versa? They are all down as won't start and 'uplift' only (I think uplift means tow. Unsure. I would just say 'needs towing')

The company have yet again upgraded their fleet and three Mercedes-Benz Tourismos have joined the fleet. They are yet to be given registration marks but will be '18' plates. They are already in the company livery and whilst two are tri-axles and one a double axle they are believed to be 53 seaters.
The three '63' plate Tourismos BX63BEO, BX63BFE and DF63KOD have left in part exchange to Evobus, Coventry.

George Edwards, Bwlchgwyn (and Eagles and Crawford, Mold)
Just arrived is OXL988 an Alexander Dennis Javelin / Plaxton Profile - C53F which was new in 2005 to MoD contractor (Lex) - by 6/2014 with to Orion, Longsight, Manchester and in 10/2017 Lakeside, Ellesmere. It previously carried registrations MH05NFJ and W14BUS. - <<PHOTO>>

WIL8914 a Dennis Javelin / Plaxton Première 320 – C53F has left the fleet and gone to Eagles and Crawford in Mold. It may be used initially but the main intention of the purchase is to extract the engine for another vehicle.

Andrew, Mostyn
His Vario / Beaver 2 - YX54GZB -that was purchased last November has been given the firm's livery - <PHOTO>

Oares of Holywell
An interesting purchase here is ND06FFA from Pats Coaches, Southsea. Pat's purchased this from Oare's in August 2012 and it has now returned.

Pats Coaches, Southsea
In addition to the sale of the Ford Transit ND06FFA the other news is that the company currently have a loan/demo vehicle from Scania. YN66WOJ is a Scania K360IB4 / Higer – C48Ft and has spent most of its time with Pats on overseas work.

Straffords, Minera, Wrexham
The Vario / Cheetah YN04WSV, purchased last August has been re-registered to M88GAS.

Chevron Training, Flint
The Ford Transit used for minibus driving instruction that has been with the company since September 2014 has been re-registered from FL62RVT to C7PCV (a registration mark that once was on the ex military Javelin / UVG Unistar that was scrapped last year).

George Edwards and Son, Bwlchgwyn, Wrexham

It is with great sadness that I report that Fred (Frederick) Edwards who was the son of George Edwards died on 9th March. He was 84.

I had the pleasure of spending a little time with Fred discussing the old days and he was certainly one of the old school of 'gentlemen'.

His funeral is on Tuesday 27th March 2018
