At present the Toronto - Vancouver Via Rail train 'The Canadian' is presently operating as a Winnipeg - Vancouver service due to a major freight train derailment at Gogama , Ontairo which has resulted in some oil tankers bursting in to flames .
This derailment occurred on March 7 .
In Canada , Via Rail The Canadian has train number #1 is Toronto - Vancouver and #2 is Vancouver - Toronto.
Other notable numbers are : The Skeena #5 Jasper - Prince Rupert #6 Prince Rupert - Jasper and
The Ocean #14 Montreal - Halifax #15 Halifax - Montreal.
The one spectacular route everyone should try at least once is #692 Churchill - Winnipeg and #693 Winnipeg - Churchill , if you really do intensely hate the cold this isn't the train journey for you.
