There is a notice on Bus Stops on Hanover Street, Looks like Charlotte Street is going to be a huge Bus Car Park with so many Buses waiting until they are due out again!

Seen this on a poster on a Stagecoach bus on the 10A earlier but the poster only mentioned the 86/86C.

Its going be gridlocked with taxi drivers and van/delivery drivers as well as buses all fighting for space to park up! Im off on Monday so might come and have a look how bad it is. They said its open to Bold Street but thats shut off in the daytime so literally is the length of Hanover Street as there is no where else to go except turn around outside Central Station.

This issue was reported on local radio yesterday. Many callers laid the blame at Liverpool City Council for a lack of consultation and information when in fact the sole responsibility for publicising this disruption is the privatised company replacing the gas mains. Whoever is at fault, it will no doubt create problems for the travelling public.

I'd like to think that the Arriva services that will terminate early (outside Lewis's building) won't wait in the vicinity but will simply take up service immediately (in Great Charlotte Street/Elliot Street) and head out of the city as the north end Arriva services do in Queen Square and Sir Thomas Street.

Legally services will not be able to do that unless the running boards are changed accordingly for the 8 weeks, whereby all timetables journeys depart the registered timing points at the correct time within a 6 minute headway.

I'd like to think that common sense will prevail and the running boards will be amended for the duration as it is my understanding that this is what happens in other parts of this region whenever there is a lengthy road closure. IF the running boards are not changed it truly will be chaotic.

Oh this area of Gt Charlotte Street / Elliot Street will be utter chaos , even amended running boards may not work , just depends what traffic is like on each individual day.

Such an important road to be closed and how did the organisation doing the work manage to leave it so late in the day to tell everybody , businesses are furious .

There is one drastic solution: ban all cars from entering Ranelagh, Elliot and Gt. Charlotte Streets between 7am -7pm. That might help. Just a thought.

I think one problem with that is that is the way around the Lime Street bus lane which was one of those to survive the cull. Again it is just very poorly thought out.
