Huyton/Roby Platform 4 - T42 PVM - 19/02/2015 19:14

Does anyone know when Platform 4 for these stations are to Open (or re-open!)

RE: Huyton/Roby Platform 4 - St Helens Rider - 19/02/2015 19:35

If I remember correctly, I think December 2017 was given as the date when the 4th track would be up and running.

Thats a lot longer than i was expecting as work looks almost complete! Cheers for the info anyway Smile

RE: Huyton/Roby Platform 4 - St Helens Rider - 19/02/2015 20:02

The initial delay has been due to the fact that there was some kind of objection to building on the land but I wouldn't be surprised if the date changes. Initially I was thinking it may be moved forward (possibly being included in works currently being carried out in the area) although given the delays to the current phase of electrification, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets moved back.

At Huyton a TWAO was needed to obtain land , which Network Rail did not own .

Thanks for clarifying this Wirralbus. I knew there was sime issue with Network Rail obtaining the land.

afaik the 4th platform will be completed by summer 2016

TWAO is a Transport and Works Act Order.

The extra bit of land needed is between Huyton Station and Huyton Junction. It was sold off when the railway was reduced to two tracks.

Those diagrams do make it a lot easier to understand what is going on at Huyton , Huyton once finished will look a lot busier than it presently is and will give some more flexibility in the timetable to add more trains without having axe any existing services .
