RE: Portsmouth - SF07 - 23/07/2012 20:38

Very worrying given that four years ago, they won the FA Cup and were welcoming AC Milan to Fratton Park in the UEFA Cup.

It has been a real mess though for over 3 years ago and it must be extremely frustrating for Pompey fans that this hasn't been sorted out earlier. Very sad to hear reports too that Tal Ben Haim, who is reportedly on £30k per week refused to listen to fans pleas to help the club.

RE: Portsmouth - wirralbus - 24/07/2012 05:18

In a way its not Tal Ben Haim fault that Portsmouth is in the predicament that it is in . Football has been living beyond its mean for long enough now maybe Portsmouth falling out of the Football league might be the wake up call that everybody needs right now after the Scottish equivalent with Rangers .

It's not the players fault that Portsmouth are in the financial mess they are in, this club has been badly run for a few years now with bad takeover after bad takeover, this sort of thing could happen to any club and it could have happened to Liverpool when the two ronnies were the club owners. If the truth be known if may be better for Pompey to be liquidated now and then start afresh as a new club albeit a good few leagues down.

The amount involved in player contracts is buttons compared to what the circus of eastern european 'oligarchs' have cost the club over the past few years.

Whoever does the 'fit and proper person' assessments on prospective new owners at the FA is a joke, and should be re-deployed to something they are perhaps more competent at - say checking referees pencils are sharp enough before a game?

sad to hear eric bell has died a 82

RE: Portsmouth - Mal - 25/07/2012 20:10

Here's thought; what happens if Portsmouth go into liquidation?
Does that mean there will only be 23 clubs in League 1 this coming season, or will there be a domino effect of clubs being 'promoted' to make up the numbers so that there are still 96 teams in the Football league? I'll bet a penny to a million tons of pigsh*t that the FA and Football League haven't got a clue how to get round that one!!! As always, I'm not holding my breath!!

That is a thought Mal as it is almost too late to re-organise things now, I would imagine that they would just go down to a 23 club division for the season but this is the Football League & FA and to be quite frank the FA in particular couldnt run a bath.

RE: John Terry - Mal - 25/07/2012 20:24

Still no word from the F****** Awful FA. What's the betting they are hoping everyone will forget about Racist Terry with the Olympics happening. Of course, with him playing for a team from the soft south, no-one can do wrong, but northerners? Now that's a different matter.
