Hilbre Island - T42 PVM - 23/05/2013 12:33

Am going on my First visit to Hilbre Island of the year this Saturday so thought i would use the chance to post about the island since few people seem to know about it.

hilbre island is of the coast of west kirby and you can reach it at low tide as when high tide comes your stuck on the island (yes thats the aim of it!) your normally stuck on there for 4-5 hours but looking at the tide time me and my mates going to be stuck on there for 6 and half hours with high tide being at 11:40 and low tide being at 6:36, loads to do on the island, old buildings to photo, seals swimming in the channel between you and wales, old lifeboat station. i like hilbre as a lot of the time your the only people on the island so you can just relax for a while, more details can be found at http://www.wirral.gov.uk/my-services/leisure-and-culture/parks-beaches-and-countryside/parks-greenspaces-and-countryside/local-nature-reserves/hilbre-isl

if by chance anyone does go then see you there!

ps if u want more info just ask me!

Dont think the local rangers coastguard and lifeguards like people going over and staying on there incase of an emergency

overnight stays are not allowed however daytime ones are, i have had laughs and jokes with some members of *friends on hilbre* and a beach guard, its on the internet how to get there in a safe mannor (head for little eye then middle eye then big eye) i can assure you that your allowed to go for the day but not night

RE: Hilbre Island - T42 PVM - 01/06/2013 10:06

i plan to go hilbire again some time this coming week, i like it on there with how quiet it is

the main reason for this visit is a mate of mine wants some exercise to lose a few quid

looking at tide times monday-wensday are out of the question

thursdays tide times: http://www.tidetimes.org.uk/hilbre-island-tide-times-20130606

fridays tide times: http://www.tidetimes.org.uk/hilbre-island-tide-times-20130607

saturdays tide times are not online yet but at a good quess high tide will be around 12 and low tide around 6

people going should leave west kirby beach 2 hour before high tide as the time shown on this page is the time the tides already in, low tide you could get of early as the time shown is when the tide is fully out

RE: Hilbre Island - T42 PVM - 04/06/2013 18:44

http://www.tidetimes.org.uk/hilbre-island-tide-times-20130608

we will be setting of at 9 from the slipway giving us 2 hour 42 mins to complete the walk (should take no longer than an hour 10)

i also found out more information include the friends of hilbire open days
http://www.deeestuary.co.uk/hilbre/open.htm

EDIT: high tide is only 8.40m, every other time i been on the island its been towards 9 and 9.11m so the little cave should be available to sit in as well should the weather go downhill :P
