It dosen't excuse the way he simply closed up CBNW and started up with a new licence he'd bought from another company. Imagine being a driver who's suddenly been sacked as the company is being wound up only for a new company to start the day after from the same address with same directors and vehicles and some of your colleagues cherry picked to drive for the new company while your owed weeks wages.
The TC is right to want answers. They have some explaining to do simple as that.

Don't get me wrong they deserve to be in front of the T.C for what happened over CBNW and felt sorry for those who lost there jobs, im just saying i think they have been doing a decent job lately but if the worse comes to worse and get there licence revoked then even more drivers would lose there jobs which is not something i would want to see happen again.

If I could add as well, on the topic of people shutting up shop then restarting another business, this has happened a few times in retail. I recall an edition of the BBC Watchdog programme, in the early 1990s, showing a man who had a furniture shop that shut, leaving folk out of pocket, then restarting elsewhere with the same stock. On that occasion, the DTI (department of trade and industry) investigated, and the man was banned as a director for several years.

What I'm going to say, basically, is it may not be the TC who is the only one wanting answers.

It's a tax fiddle. Existing company gets wound up at midnight and a new company with same address, directors etc opens at a minute past midnight and all debts are simply wiped away.

The bigger issue with bus and coach companies is the ops licence. When a company applies for a licence there vetted before one is granted or refused. In the case with CBNW they were confident they wouldn't get a new licence so simply went and 'acquired' one from another operator.

It's all good and well saying their 'doing well' but what's to stop them simply closing up when the debts get too big again.

Does anyone know the type of Displays used on the ex-Cardiff Darts here? They look very different to the Hanover and Mobitec ones used by Arriva in terms of font, and I Googled it and nothing came up
Thanks in advance Smile

Interesting to note that the 24 from 12th December on Sundays is extended to Knott End, which lost it's Sunday service following the LCC cuts earlier in the year.

I'm sure the passengers of Wyre (Cleveleys/Poulton/Fleetwood) area will get a shock on the 18th January as I can't see anyone coming in to take on these services.
