I'll quote to you the exact statement under the Catch 22 Bus heading in Fleet News England & Wales, Buses magazine August issue.
"The business of Nuttall, Warrington, was purchased from Tansey, Warrington, in June. Services 12 and 21 now operate on this licence"

I think it's the other way around - Warrington Coachways/Nuttalls moved across to the Tansey licence

Oakwood were previously reported to have applied to increase thier VA to operate these additional services so I'm wondering if the increase was turned down so they 'acquired' an extra licence?

I wonder if this will mean the Red Rocket can return since they now have more Ops Licences?
EDIT: Just tried the Red Rocket Express Website and it says the Website is down but a New Website will soon appear in its place

Their ongoing tussle with the TC seems to have being running for a long time now (two years and counting) with little sign of an outcome one way or the other.
I'm sure the TC will take a close interest in this latest twist in the saga too.

I think it's crazy that in this day and age operators with not so great history's can apply to increase VA's, get turned down and just go out and acquire additional licences. It makes a mockery of the whole system!

I agree with you Mayneway, but if you go out and buy a bus company, you get what they have or are offering for sale.
That said, as DVL418 wrote, the traffic commissioner will no doubt have a look. Could they insist on the latest acquisition being separately managed?

It shouldn't be as easy as buying a licence for a sum of money. Don't forget no vehicles or services have been acquired. I personally think any operator should have to apply to purchase or acquire additional licences and the TC/VOSA should then investigate the reasons why the operator requires an additional licence.
In answer to your second question, I think the way around this is to simply list different directors/transport managers and then 'on paper' it's being managed/run by seperate people from the same address.
