The commanders moved to St Helens as dart replacements, (please correct me if I am wrong?) So I doubt they will moving anywhere in the near future.

To be honest I thought a commander was exactly the same length as a cadet. I've never studied the seating arrangement until before. If a number of the cadets did move in exhange for the pulsars, where would the cadets go to?

I would take a complete guess and say maybe St Helens, Southport, Bangor or Wrexham. Not many depots has darts left in service now, which means not many depots need dart replacements. However those cadets at Runcorn do need replacing as they are too unreliable and too uncapable for what they are used on such as the 79C, 82A, 110 as well as the X1 and X30 from time to time which need better capacity than the cadets have.

No commanders are longer.

The Cadet and Commander are on two different chassis. The Cadet is on the shorter VDL SB120CS whilst the Commander, Pulsar and Pulsar 2 are all on the longer VDL SB200CS

I think it would be a very poor and unpopular move to replace Volvo B10BLEs with smaller Wright Cadets. At least if Pulsars from Green Lane replaced the Renowns at St Helens and/or Southport the seating capacity of the two types is exactly the same and there wouldn't be any reduction in capacity - whereas Cadets have five less seats and less standing room than both Renowns and Pulsars. Pulsars would be far more suited to a route like the 300 than Cadets which would be far too small

I'd like to see St Helens' Renowns replaced first personally; they've not been touched refurbishment wise since they were new unlike the Southport examples which are much more presentable and comfortable.

They were re-freshed around 2010/11. Most received new seat cushions, repaint and LED's

I didn't mean to come across that way - I was basically saying that I personally think Cadets would be unsuitable replacements for the Renowns at Southport because they're far too small for a long route like the 300 - whereas I think Pulsars would be a lot more suited to that route. I would say it's a certainty that St Helens' Renowns will be replaced first considering St Helens has the oldest Renowns in the fleet (excluding 2729/30 of course) - whereas all of Southport's are newer and have been refurbished

It'll be a shame to see the Renowns go though - they've been reliable workhorses for nearly 15 years and they added some variety to the fleet

RE: Arriva North West - Green Lane Depot - MX12 KVM - 07/12/2015 21:08

I wasn't trying to say the cadets would be suitable replacements for renowns, I meant that St. Helens would be a suitable destination for them as St. Helens already has a number of cadets! I think commanders/pulsars would be better replacements for the renowns. I was expecting the renowns to be replaced first due to them being X/Y plated!

RE: Arriva North West - Green Lane Depot - MPTE1955 - 07/12/2015 21:32

The fact that st helens already has cadets is neither here nor there really, they are not the only ones to have some, if SH got some what would they be replacing as other than the Ble's there is nothing. So in that respect St Helens is not really a good place for them.
