With 500 moving back to Speke are they cutting the route? Currently 500 runs all the way to Murdishaw and what will replace the Widnes/Runcorn-Murdishaw section of the route if this is the case?

The 79C.

Seems like 79C could be, being extended back to Runcorn replacing the 62 in Runcorn.

I always felt it was a mistake combining the Widnes-Liverpool section of the 82A with the 500, the 82A was never the most reliable route in the first place, quite often you could see buses on the 82A anything up to 15 late on the Arriva live map app, plus 500 was an express route, didn't like the rerouting via LSP when you already have the 80A & 86A from their to the Airport, 80A & 86A are also more frequent than the 500.

Early whispers from contacts at Runcorn suggest that the 82A will return as well, covering the Hale Village section, and also extending to Runcorn and Liverpool. Whether it will follow the current 500 route remains to be seen.

Sounds like Runcorn depot might be about to get quite crowded!

How long have Runcorn got the loan vehicles for? If these changes are true that are being talked about will the loan vehicles still be needed?

Can see the 79c will revert to its original route from Green Oaks to Murdishaw (now covered by the 500) also the revival of the 82A could revert to it original route this would cover the 500 again from Green Oaks towards Liverpool

When the 79c was every 15 minutes it needed 15 buses to work it

Just check the whole Arriva UK fleet and most single deckers are allocated the only ones not been with Arriva London (lots) but are all double doors

Great that the 79C is coming back to Runcorn. Hopefully the 82A does too.

Has anyone seen gas bus 5004? I’ve not seen it since December. Thanks

The X30 and 61 routes could be operated by double deck vehicles but you wonder whether Arriva would be prepared to live with the risk of a bridge strike when someone absent mindedly strays off route as happened several times in the 90s
