353 (E20BTS) on rail replacement from Crewe today with Busman of Knutsford.

RE: Blackpool Transport - mikestone - 11/11/2018 22:29

And again today - last week it had an A4 notice with a phone number, not even that this week.
;
I would have thought operators would specify removal of fleetnames and legals when selling to a dealer.

I very much doubt whether your average passenger even notices or cares, such is the variety of operators on RRS work nowadays. So long as the advertised service shows up, runs to time, is a vehicle licensed correctly and is in a safe and roadworthy condition, that is all that they want.
Just also to point out that 353 did have a 'legal' address for it's new owner clearly on display, when I saw it early on 11 Nov.

I too doubt it - but I would have thought Blackpool would take a dim view.
;
Out of interest where was the legal address?

I'm surprised you say that as the impression I get from the Media is that rail passengers are very snobbish about having to use buses & coaches.

There's not much BT can do. They secure a sale, remove all vinyls and legals etc, take the money and let the bus go. Unless they go to the trouble of painting the bus before sale I don't see how they can enforce how, when or what livery it's used in after sale.

Ah yes, the media, that bastion of balance and truth. The real world is somewhat different. No headline in something that runs OK.

RE: Blackpool Transport - mikestone - 13/11/2018 11:32

I would have thought when an operator sells a bus to a dealer it would be standard practice to specify conditions of resale such as removal of identification - why else do many buses in adverts have their registrations obscured?. I haven't checked subsequently but when I first saw it at Crewe Copthorne PSV were still advertising it for sale.

Touche. Although my comments were based on interviews with Rail passengers, rather than the prejudices of Reporters.
