If they think a buyer can be found they continue trading and attempt to restructure the business to make it more attractive to buyers e.g. if the coach hire part is profitable then they'll split it off and put it up for sale and wind up the bus operations part.

Hopefully the better buses and the drivers transfer to other operators in the area.

Apparently all staff been told to find new jobs as from this morning

It's a shame for GHA. They were doing so well and then all of a sudden the journeys were being dropped and the buses started deteriorating.

I'll find it interesting to see how Stagecoach do with the 36. It used to be operated by First, but there was also a 21 service so there was already a slight presence. I wonder if it will be the start of stagecoach in Halton, maybe with Liverpool services expanding in too.

According to a local councillor the 4 x Enviro 200s for the 88 route were purchased using money provided by Waters (the international corporation) on condition that they would be used on an enhanced 88 route until mid-2019.

I highly doubt it as Stagecoach don't really have the resource in the right area and the 36 isn't exactly a flush fit in there operations either. Not to say that they aren't still intrested in a certain municipal operator but let's not start one of them

Cheshire East have said finding operators to run the 27, 88 and 200 services is their main priority at the moment.

It sounds like D&G have already agreed to run some GHA services but it isn't clear which ones.

I'd disagree with the 'resource in the right area', as we all are frequently aware Chester depot is filling up quite fast and they don't have room for extra buses. However, they have tried expanding in the Ellesmere Port area previously. Rock Ferry depot isn't too far away either.

If stagecoach in theory were to keep both the 6 again and the 36, it would be interesting to see how this works out with routing the Liverpool to Chester services with both services calling at the Bus Exchange, Cheshire Oaks, Stanney Oaks and the rail station. Perhaps an expansion of the 36 into Chester via the X2 route?

(and as you've mentioned, they've also had their eye on both municipal local operators in that certain area for quite some time!)

I don't think extending the 36 would be beneficial in my opinion
