Does this mean that the route will have to be taken back on by Merseytravel .

RE: Avon Buses - buses7675 - 08/03/2013 14:41

Someone on the Merseytravel Twitter page asked about the withdrawal of routes 183/184 and this is Merseytravel's response:

"they're commercial services and Avon has decided to withdraw them from 28 April, no decision has been made yet about replacement"

So wait and see I guess in regards to replacements!

RE: Avon Buses - wirralbus - 08/03/2013 15:19

The 183/4 must have been marginal for commercial operation considering the vehicles have to come over from Prenton.

The other commercial operation in Liverpool the 122 must be viable to have lasted so long with vehicles coming over from Prenton.

As I understand (well from riding them in current and previous incarnations) they are used, at least in the daytime, however mainly with passes and not by huge numbers but no less than various Merseytravel routes so there is potential for them to return to being tendered routes, given they were until around 2004 when A1A Travel decided to commercialise them.

RE: Avon Buses - wirralbus - 08/03/2013 16:47

The only problem now is with budgets cuts in every direction would it be feasible to replace these routes , hard decisions have to be made .

Fairly unusual sighting today, was X822XCK (822) on the 77's.
