I think it is subsidisde as they use the Merseytravel Supported Bus Fares in The Evening I'm not 100% sure if that is classed as Subsidsde though

It sounds to me like something needs sorting, and fast. Not good for a small company to be so short of drivers - not really sure what they can do about it tho if they can't get anyone to apply, other than cut routes?

Yeah you can get away with it for a day or two missing journeys , but it now comes down to reliability now , could you really rely on an Avon service turning up ?
What are the options open to them ?

Avon should really look at dropping a couple of tenders and maybe forget about going on the 165 as well, this would reduce the number of drivers needed and sort the problem

I recently gave up my car for no other reason but to go Green and, perhaps, lose a bit of weight. Big mistake. The service I am most reliant on is the 144 which is a commercial service during the day and tendered evenings and Sundays. Today it failed to turn up for the 16.12 from Netherton and later the 19.57 from Field Lane to Netherton. After waiting 25 minutes for the 19.57 I decided to walk the two miles home. To my surprise, and annoyance, I did see the 144 heading back towards Bootle. Clearly this bus was in service but was at least ten minutes early on its way to Netherton earlier. I can fully appreciate that there are any number of reasons why any bus can be running late but what is the excuse for running early? Perhaps the driver doesn't like picking up passengers?
Also, for some reason I don't understand, Avon's services don't appear on Merseytravel's real-time app. Can someone explain why this is so?
I read on this page recently that Avon seem unable to provide certain tendered services on the Wirral and, in light of recent experiences. Quite simply it is taking public money and not providing a service, something that would not be tolerated by the management at either Arriva or Stagecoach

It's a similar situation to Supertravel. Too big too soon and not enough resources to cope.
However unlike Supertravel, they have the fleet to operate, just not the drivers.

Sadly, that seems to have been a route to failure for all too many small operators. I hope that Avon sort out any "difficulties" - it would be sad to lose another good quality small operator.

Avon - the only company with no website no facebook no twitter and no live tracking...in 2017.
And they want to get bigger in July?! And they run services right across Liverpool based in the Wirral the buses must take a battering every day! I have lost count I have seen broken down this year.

Avon Bus Services 91 - Due to operational difficulties the following Avon 91 services will not operate today from Birkenhead Bus Station 1000 - 1400 inclusive (on the hour every hour)
Avon Bus Service 92 - Due to operational difficulties the following Avon 92 services will not operate today from Birkenhead Bus Station - 1030 - 1430 inclusive (on the half hour every half hour)
Avon 10A Bus Services - Due to operational difficulties the following Avon 10A services will not operate today - 1600, 1730 & 1900 from Arrowe Park Hospital/ 1645 & 1815 from New Brighton
