North West MP no longer junior minister for rail - knutstransport - 14/01/2018 13:27

Paul Maynard, who was born in Crewe, educated in Altrincham and lives in Blackpool was moved in the cabinet reshuffle so he is no longer junior minister for rail. It's not 100% clear which of the two new ministers (Jo Johnson and Nusrat Ghani) is going to get the rail brief but one thing is clear it's going to a MP with South East/London connections, instead of one with North West connections.

Isn't it interesting, Maynard gets shuffled out just as it's announced some parts of North West Electrification are delayed. Wonder whether he was moved or pushed.

Really its Grayling that should carry the can , he has made a hash of all the rail electrifications and seems to think bi-mode is the answer , it isnt .

Diesel trains will soon be pumping more into the atmosphere than diesel buses and cars .

Both Grayling and Hunt should have lost their posts for the way they have handled their departments.

Johnson popped up to congratulate the staff and firemen at Nottingham with some guff from the Tory MP for Broxtowe about how he would get things moving.
.
Since Conservative Central Office tweeted that Grayling was going to be party chairman and then deleted it, the obvious conclusion is that whoever May intended to make the Secretary of State for Transport told her to stuff it.
This latest electrification farce would add grist to the mill of his bi-modal obsession of course.

One rumour suggested Grayling stayed put after May's proposal for make Grayling Party Chairman was opposed by a number of people in the Conservative Party. If that's true they have a weak and unstable leader.

Not from the point of view of the Conservatives of course, as they doing their best to smash the rail unions and the NHS respectively.

Hunt was reportedly going to be moved to Business but managed to persuade May to keep him on Health. On the other hand Greening refused to move from Education to Work & Pensions and the end result was she lost her cabinet position altogether.
