Today's 1549 M'cr to Sheffield via the Hope Valley Line left at 1545 according to RTI. Note, we are talking 4 minutes early on an hourly service (for most Stations) from a major terminus, and the last departure on the line before Peak fares applied. Fortunately for me, I had already decided to catch the 1602 and indeed, only saw this early departure when checking RTI for the 1602.

According to Real Time Trains it left 1 late: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/Y67258/2017/08/04/advanced

SD.

Currently failed at St Helens Central with the Fire Brigade in attendance.

According to an Article on the St Helens Star the said train caught fire

There was a fire in the cupboard where the fuses are contained. It has apparently resulted in a cupboard being destroyed, a large hole in the roof and damage to the new accessible toilet, so I'm guessing the unit won't return to service for some time!

Will Northern get a temporary unit?

I doubt it - especially with 319370 and 319424 still yet to enter service

The 15:34 ex-Sheffield is supposed to arrive at platform 1 followed by the 15:38 ex-Glossop service. It looks like yesterday the ex-Sheffield arrived at 15:38 so presumably got initially wrongly reported as being the ex-Glossop service arriving with the ex-Glossop being recorded as the late running ex-Sheffield service, so when the Glossop service went out it must have reported it as being the Sheffield service leaving early until it was corrected.

Perhaps the question to ask is with so many 319s off-lease with no future home confirmed, will it be more cost effective to repair the damaged carriage or replace it with a stored carriage?

This suggests that at least 10 have new Arriva Northern interiors and livery.

The only 319s in the full new livery are 319370/4 and 319424/31. The other repainted units including 319448/50 are only in the base livery

AFAIA none of the 319s have the new Northern interior yet

Northern's Twitter feed has been promoting 10 of their trains have so far been refurbished but those are all Sprinters.
